Well that's pretty much f***ed any chance I had in the finals. I'm already missing Higgins & Ballantyne out of my forward line with no trades left. Couldn't have happened at a worse time.

Guess that was always the risk of picking a bloke with paper tissue thin hammies.

I don't have him but I have ROK and I was thinking of trading Chappy in if ROK's injury was serious, I was undecided though. Guess that helps me make up my mind.

I traded him when he had that hand problem for Roo and I was kicking myself there for a month or so for wasting a trade (even though they scoring similar) but now I am glad I made that trade, even though I might ahve lost a bit of money with Chappies price rise.

bullet dodged!

Right on! I've spent the last few weeks trying to work out how I can get him into my team (ROK was just a little too expensive for me) but never worked out a way. Thank god for that.

Just last week I had 9 forwards playing...now I could be facing a zero as Chappy, Ballantyne and ROK might all miss. FMSC

Haha you guys are clutching at straws. He's averaging 119 points and has played most games to this point. Anyone who wasn't so stupid to run out of trades so early will just trade him out and still be glad they picked him up.

I'm ecstatic I got Chappy, he's been brilliant. Unfortunately it's time to trade him, but I would much rather have had him then not had him

Sorry to those that have him but this is bloody brilliant news to me. :D:thumbsu:

Two of my league opponents have him and they have no trades left. I'm in the box seat now in both matches as I don't have Chapman and he was my main fear. What a relief he's gone now. :)

Running out of trades isn't always due to stupidity or poor management, sometimes it's just bad luck.

I've had a horrendous run with injury this year. In the ruck I've had to trade Hille, Simmonds, Cox & Fraser all due to injury or poor form. My forward line has been a disaster zone with Richardson, Ziebell, Warren, Higgins and Chapman all injured and a couple of others out due to poor form or suspension. In the backline I've had to trade out Cornes, Raines, Hurley all due to long term injuries and recently lost Gilbert & Dawson due to injury and suspension.

I really think there needs to be more trades in SC & DT. It sucks getting to finals and then having your chances ruined by losing players like Chapman and having no trades to replace them. I'm sure I'm not the only one in that boat.

well 2 weeks is not to bad especially if they really are just "resting" him.

I have no bench cover so I might just trade T. Walker for a bench player and hope that will do and I can win my games and get next week off. If he doesn't come back for the Prelim I'll just trade him then.

thats really not bad at all compared to most others. anyone who picked simmonds this year doesnt know what day it is, his boat left 3 rounds into last season.

sounds like u didnt cop the hodge/boomer, everyone had ziebell, higgins and raines and warren is a bench warmer so its like listing sam jacobs as an injury.

The two trade decisions that I made earlier in the year that I have been spewing about ever since....

1. Selected Stevie J instead of Chapman.
2. Selected Franklin over ROK.

At the time, they were about equivalent in value and I could of picked eaither. Whilst both ROK and Chappy have gone from strength to strength, my two picks of Buddy and Stevie went through the floor with both averaging about 50 since I got them.

How things change in a week. Desperately low on trades and knowing my opponents have one or both (And they are in a similar predicament trade wise), suddenly, my team ain't looking so bad.... :D

and so you should be. He has been a genius. and he had the decency to pull his hammy at training after playing an absolute blinder instead of halfway through the 1st quarter, thereby maximising his trade value.

Still, for those of us who stayed off him this comes as a bit of a relief. My first opponent in the finals has him. No idea if he has trades left, but he had 4 guys catchin donuts in his backline last week so maybe not.

Dunno what to do, Espcially after what happen to SJ, cats could leave Chappy on the sidelines for a few more weeks as precaution. I got 2 trades left and im thinking about trading him to goodwin/davis/didak atm. But reall undecided in what to do

Running out of trades isn't always due to stupidity or poor management, sometimes it's just bad luck.

I've had a horrendous run with injury this year. In the ruck I've had to trade Hille UNLUCKY, Simmonds POOR CHOICE, Cox SO DID EVERYONE ELSE & Fraser POOR CHOICE all due to injury or poor form. My forward line has been a disaster zone with Richardson OLDEST PLAYER IN THE AFL, Ziebell EVERYONE HAD HIM, Warren DID HIS JOB AS A CASH COW, Higgins EVERYONE HAD HIM and Chapman EVERYONE HAS HIM all injured and a couple of others out due to poor form or suspension. In the backline I've had to trade out Cornes EVERYONE HAD HIM, Raines EVERYONE HAD HIM, Hurley WASTE OF A TRADE all due to long term injuries and recently lost Gilbert HE HAS ONLY MISSED ONE WEEK & Dawson HE SHOULDNT BE STARTING due to injury and suspension.

I really think there needs to be more trades in SC & DT NO IT WOULD BE TOO EASY. It sucks getting to finals and then having your chances ruined by losing players like Chapman and having no trades to replace them. IF YOUR GOING FOR LEAGUE WINS HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE TRADES LEFT? I'm sure I'm not the only one in that boat. MOST OF THESE EVERYONE HAD TO DEAL WITH SO I THINK IT CAN BE PUT DOWN TO POOR MANAGEMENT

Sometimes it is bad luck but no offence this is not bad luck.

3 certainties in life - Death, taxes, and Chappy doing a hammy. Was always going to happen, as much as I was spewin when he was racking up monster scores week in week out I knew that it was just a matter of time

Agreed!

Love dodging bullets. :D

To support PK's point, I've had to deal with injuries to Raines, Hurley, Anthony, Cox, Hodge, Chornes, Ablett, Ziebell, Higgins, Drummond, Pavlich, Gilbert, Hartlett & Jacobs. That's 14 off the top of my head. That's surely as bad as anyone's?

I still have 4 trades left and 8 of those players still in my team (Higgins goes this week).

So every person who blames injuries for having no trades left should list all their trades and I'll accept the excuse if I can't pick out any wasted ones.

ie, don't talk to me if you swapped Jacobs to Meesen ;)

OK, back on topic ...

Agree with PK.

And if you've run out of trades by this point then there's no use crying over it. If you had more trades at the start of the season you probably would've burnt through them as well. The key is to not trade impulsively.

For instance:-

Hodge:- Was only out for 3 weeks.
Higgins:- Was only out for 2 weeks (although another couple now also)
Gilbert:- Why are you mentioning him? He's only out for a week. Don't tell me you traded him???
Cornes:- Think he was only out for 3-4 weeks.

Sometimes it is bad luck but no offence this is not bad luck.

I'm not saying I've had a lot more bad luck in SC than other people, I'm just explaining why I have run out of trades and that it isn't just down to me being reckless or stupid with trades.

Just picking all the players I've had injured and just saying "everyone has them" or "they were a poor choice due to age or risk of injury" and saying that isn't bad luck is bullshit. It's still bad luck regardless of how many other people it happens to or the players involved.

Well done to all the people that have trades left in SC but it doesn't make you necessarily smarter or better at managing trades than people that have run out of trades, in a lot of cases you've just had better luck. I've had a lot more injuries and bad luck in SC compared to DT, I have trades left in DT and none left in SC and I don't think I've managed my DT side any better than my SC side, I've just had better luck.

I didn't have Hodge and I didn't trade out Higgins or Gilbert either, but them being on my bench doesn't help my situation at the moment, especially with injuries and suspensions to other players. I traded Cornes as that looked like it would be a medium term or possibly long term injury and I couldn't afford to carry him with all my other backline problems.

I'll admit I have had to make a few more trades in the last few weeks than I wanted to, but was forced to just to keep a full team on the park and in my league position I needed wins each week just to make finals and possibly top 4. It was a risk using up all my trades before finals but by not doing that I more than likely would have missed finals altogether.
