I like the guy obviously, i think he has heaps of potential if he can put it all togeather consistantly and gives us an x factor. He has an uncanny ability of finding space, good mark but his kicking could be better and it was last weekend.

Was last weekend a fluke or is he a walkup in our best 22?

Do saints followers support him yet or see him as a Geelong reject still?

I really hope he continues to do well. Could end up a huge blunder for the cats in coming years.... up to him now to go out and do it and i believe he will. :thumbsu:

yeh i agree watched him in one of his few games for geelong and i was a bit of a fan he just showed good signs on the lead and hes brought that to st kilda and looked goods in shades. Obviously his kicking can improve but if he can continually present a contest and be that lead up target releasing the burden on riewoldt that would be great. From memory wasnt he originally a backman? that could always be helpful for us.

If he improves his kicking for goal he could be a real asset. To be cemented into the 22 he will probably need to produce that consistently for the next month. But could very well be just what we needed. With Kosi and Riewoldt continually double teamed he could play a pop up role similar to Westhoff last year and kick 2-3 every week.

Whilst X is out of the team and with Blake struggling to get the footy he's handy to have. His kicking and general awareness concern me though. If the guy can't make the ball spin right and kick more than he misses from 40-45m then he will continue to be in and out of the team.

I think with both Dempster and Gardner we got our money worth. We got players who could play AFL to give St Kilda added depth in the case on injuries. Not great but serviceable. We needed them because of the duds we had on our list. Or did someone expect the Cats and Swans to give away players who were unrealised stars?

Would have been nice :)

I still have real high hopes of Schneider producing the goods. Dempster is def serviceable as well. Fingers crossed Chucky can come into some form:thumbsu:

Guys, saw your post on Charlie; IMO at Geelong he was not quite up to AFL standard, always close but generally his skill level was not up to it. His kicking was always a real problem. Could take a good grab & was sometimes hard to match up. Hope he does better for you guys

Maybe AFL standard is slightly lower at StKilda. :D
My opinion is that he is good to have as an emergency.

Played very well against the Swans. Does go missing for large part of matches. Hopefully he can change that.

When I think of Charlie Gardiner I can't get that effort against Collingwood where he was running into an open goal and rather than kicking the goal decided to run around the player in front of him only to be mown down from behind. Milne did exactly the same thing earlier in the game to be fair.

He wasn't too bad against Sydney last week and there are a number of players I'd drop before him. He does a lot of hard work leading up the ground but unfortunately his kicking for goal is much like the rest of his new teammates and that's bordering on atrocious.

Friday night would be the ideal opportunity for him to stand up and send out a statement that he's sick of being rotated between the seniors and reserves and wants to cement a spot in our starting 18. Without Kosi and Gehrig in our forward line there's a spot available for him if he's good enough to take it.
