I feel at carlton we need a half forward, who can kick goals and has good hands. Someone in the mould of an o'keefe who can lead strong and take marks. This guy is a dic*head and immature, yet i am thinking a change from his current club which has no 'personaily' nor 'ambition,' to a club like ours which is again 'proud, ambitious and exciting' could do him the world of good.

He is a great talent, yet has not given himslef the opportunity to reach his potential. Will a change do this?

before you berate me think about it as whether it is a good prospect for us considering he wont be worth a great deal........

Straight swap for Russell, then.

Ryan Gamble would be more worthwhile IMO, has great hands and is good below his knees and not afraid to crash and bash, he is everything we all wish Fisher could develop into, Tough match up.

...and to think gamble plays in a crap side as well makes his performances even better.

I have thought about this.

The answer is no.

Now can I berate you?

He is in the O'Keefe mould as much as Hamill was in the Brown mould.

Similar types but worlds apart in terms of quality.

The Dees also need a HF who can kick goals and take marks.........he isn't it.;)

would much prefer gamble. Though would be stunned if Geelong let him go

He'd get a game with all other 15 clubs in the AFL, but you'd have to think Geelong would ask alot considering he's young. Maybe.

TBH, Gamble suits what your after better.

But at what cost, Geelong are going to want in excess of a 2nd rounder. Melbourne rate Sylvia pretty highly, so i doubt you guys would give up a second round pick for him or a first round for Gamble.

As the OP stated, it's not talent its application. I'd say he's worth more to melbourne then his trade value, we'd only want picks.

Sylvia is a hack. Showed a lot more agression off the field when he so courageously belted up his ex-girlfriend than he ever has on the field! Don't want his sort at our club.

I reckon Geelong would want 1st rounders for Gamble. Quite frankly, Geelong would have to be crazy to let him go, unless of course Gamble wants to leave for more opportunities.

We'll keep him thanks.

From what he has shown so far in his career is probably worth a pick around the mid 30s. However he has plenty of talent and 'potential' he is yet to achieve (If he ever does achieve it) so Melbourne trading him probably wouldn't be worth it as we wouldn't have gotten anywhere near value out of him so far.

IMO you'd be better off chasing Gamble anyway.

Anyone else we can bring in? Martin Bryant, Christopher Wayne Hudson, Mick Gatto?!?

Whilst these blokes would come cheap, Bryant sprays it everywhere, Gatto is all talk with a soft, soft underbelly and Hudson is too easily influenced by the deadshits he hangs out with. Keep looking I think.

Of all the forward type players we would be looking at people want to chase sylvia. I am surprised by many opinions posted here but this is up there with one of the most ridiculous. Sylvia is a w***er off field and has a pea heart on field.

I hadn't even considered Gamble from Geelong, but I do like the idea of enquiring about him. Given they still have the Tomahawk to come back into the team, they may not be too discouraged to trade him, given that they already have Mooney, Ottens and Lonergan in the team as well.

Another player from Geelong that is on the fringe is Varcoe. Doesn't get alot of game time due to the talent down there, and may move for more opportunities.

Varcoe also would be worthwhile, I agree.

Just hope we dont get sucked into a Byrnes type who cant finish.

Gamble would be ideal as i stated earlier, they also may have Nathan Ablett back next year and cant see how they will keep everyone entirely satisfied.

Strikes me as all flash, little substance. Talented but goes missing. We want consistency in our group.
