Congrats to Richmond but they won another cheap premiership today with an interstate opponent not turning up.

Other cheap premierships.

Geelong v Port Adelaide 2007

Hawks v Sydney 2014

Hawks v West Coast 2015

Bulldogs v Sydney 2016*

Richmond v Adelaide 2017

Richmond v GWS 2019

I wish St Kilda was so lucky but we ran into Geelong and Collingwood in our 2009 and 2010 GFs, two other Vic teams with more MCG experience than us.

I know people will point out that we played an interstate opponent in the 1997 GF but Adelaide were a f***ing good side back then with Mcleod, Riccuito and Darren Jarman while St Kilda was missing our best ruckman and arguably our best player in Spida Everitt, our no.2 ruckman in Lazar Vidovic and Nicky Winmar's dad died so he was cooked.

Maybe one of these days we will get one of those cheap premierships like Geelong, Hawks, Bulldogs and Richmond.

Cheapest one was the 1966 premiership where the Saints were the beneficiaries of an all time favourable free kick record

Fitting there is no footage/photos of the players in St Kilda guernsies.

Also

Q: Why is it prohibited to swim at St Kilda beach?
A: Because it only has 1 flag.

INb4 lockity lock. Interstate sides have had a habit of gifting Vic sides flags for a few years now.
On that Lollingwood ****ed it up bad last year.

So is this where the next person says something scathing and witty about the Dogs in 2016?

Crows were missing Riccuito and Modra for the '97 Grand Final and played back to back away games and was down at HT in the '97 GF.

A premiership is a premiership. I still agree in a way that a Vic side beating another Vic side means more as it's usually more difficult.

It’s the umpires fault. 🌈

While higher ranked interstate sides playing the grand final at their opponents’ home ground is the elephant in the room, it doesn’t apply here. Richmond finished higher, they beat the minor premiers on the way to the grand final, they earnt the home ground advantage. They were clearly the best team from the break, winning 12 in a row.

If I was just trolling I would say Geelong's 2009 and Collingwood's 2010 premierships were cheap, they weren't cheap, they were hard earned.

Adelaide's 1997 premiership was hard earned.

Hawthorn's 1971 premiership was hard earned.

People might hang shit on St Kilda for our lack of premierships but at least we make our opponents earn it when we play GFs.

West Coast's premiership last year wasn't cheap, I hate West Coast but even I will admit that was a hard earned premiership.

GWS did not make Richmond earn it today, that was pathetic.

Cheap premiership.
