Watching the Geelong v Collingwood game just now and Hawkins went for the tightest shot from the boundary, and it occurred to me, perfect for a checkside punt.

Do they even teach this at footy clubs anymore?

Has anyone seen Walker nail one?

Why don't AFL players use it more? (though, half of them couldn't hit a target as it is)

I saw several checksides last week. I think Barry Hall kicked a goal from one last week.
There is alot of it still around.

Anyone that kicks a checkside in general play needs to learn to use their non prefered. Dale Thomas is a shocker for it, makes it pretty had for the intended player to mark the ball.

It was clearly banned for a number of years at the Crows under Craig, but of late there has been a bit of return to it.

It used to shit me that we would attempt a drop punt from the boundary as this is actually a lower % shot than a checkside. There seemed to be an opinion at the Crows that a checkside kick was showing off and selfish.

Dale Thomas is a good example for a selfish incompetent soft show pony.

You beat me to it.
He hasnt got a left foot this show pony hence his checkside use...and showed his selfish team play last night when he should have squared the ball to Marty Clark all on his own in the corridor - but didnt:rolleyes:
