That's the mail I've been getting, not sure how long he is out for though.

This is a dog of a blow.

Shoulder surgery for Chick

West Coast Eagles star recruit Daniel Chick will have surgery on his troublesome shoulder on Monday evening and will miss several weeks of football.

Chick hurt the shoulder in his team’s gritty win over the Kangaroos in round 13 at Subiaco Oval, when he injured the joint in the third term, but went back onto the ground to play an enormous part in the win with a scintillating final quarter.

He was declared fit for the clash against the Swans on Sunday, but after hurting it again during that match, scans on Monday morning showed surgery was required.

Chick played 149 games for Hawthorn and was their 2000 best and fairest.

He has played 11 games for West Coast this season.

"Several weeks" does not sound good.

anyone know of the long term damage yet?? I guess that'll be known after the surgery won't it???

If he's back say around round 21-22ish, will he be match fit by the time finals come around??

What has me worried is the "miss several weeks" bit. How long is several weeks? How long is a piece of string? Is several week after round 14 different to several weeks after round 2??

The non-specifics of it can not be a good sign.

Buggerama! Not good news at all. I was suprised he even played against Sydney after injuring his shoulder against the Kangaroos. The time has come for someone from the WAFL to step up and make a name for themselves in the AFL.

Yeah I heard three weeks as well. But apparently Matera was meant to be one week too.

He is an important player to us but its not the end of the world.

When I first heard the news about a "star" Eagle requiring surgery, my first thought was Gardiner. Knowing it is Chick does not seem so bad as Gardy, but sad to hear anyway.

Come back soon Chickiebabe.

Woosha's been on the radio saying Gardy & Fido will play this Saturday night, Jako is 50/50 for this week and Chicky may be back in two.

Mind you, this is the bloke who ran off the WACA with a wrecked ACL.

HUGE GIGANTIC blow..... :( :( :(

Our only midfielder who likes to do the hard stuff (Kerr excluded) Not only that, this year he has being our Mr Fixit, he went back and made O'Loughin calm down, he froze out Pavlich. He gets all the important jobs.

HUGE blow....but hopefully we can cover the loss and keep it going. To be honest I was a little relieved after I heard it was Chick. I heard the report on the radio but missed the name and with Gardiner being a late withdrawal I thought it might be him. Sound bad I know but Gardy is more important.

Add Chick to the pile now...Matera, Gaspar, Gardy, Morrison, McIntosh etc etc Can we keep the ship together?

Missed this post...but Im on the same boat.

The thing is, he'll only miss 2 games (1) carlton which you'd think we'd win easily without chick and (2) port which you'd think even if we had chick, we'd lose.

Thats my positive spin on it - his absence in the next two games wont make a difference
