I haven't got kids yet but it's something I've always thought about. What name would I name my first son/daughter.

Son: Billy. I don't know why I like this name, it just seems so perfect imo. It might sound a little bit standard, but really how many Billy's do we see anymore. It wouldn't be hard to talk a wife around anyway.

Daughter: Morgan. I always wanted to call my daughter Shona but then I liked a girl with that name in High School and I wasn't able to think about it the same way afterwards. I don't know whether Morgan is predominantly a girls name or a boys name but I like it for a girl. I googled it and all it did was leave me more confused, people were saying it was a boys name and people were saying it was a girls name so I put a poll above to get an opinion from you guys! That one might be hard to convince your wife on though!

For the people on here who have children, just try and remember what your first preference was when you were naming your first child. I just thought it would be interesting to see other people's opinions on names.

Well I wasn't going to announce it yet, but since you asked. She is about 10 weeks along this time, which is two weeks longer than last time.

She is vomitting and feeling like shit and I am loving it

For what its worth I really really like the name Mila for a girl. (Pronounced Mee-la, like Mila Kunis)

Morgan is a boys name.

If you name a kid Mila, some people are going to call it Miller no matter how many times you correct them.

Billy is a nickname for William. I wouldn't use it as a christian name. If you name a kid William there is no guarantees people will call it Billy growing up.

Sara should be pronounced sah-ra. Sarah should be pronounced sair-rah. If you don't people calling your kid sah-ra, don't name it Sara.

Parents need to remember decisions they make - like giving their kid a *trendy name - will affect that kid's life.

When naming your kids it is actually the right time to go Helen Lovejoy and think of the children.

My in-laws discovered this. Added an "h" to the end within a week.

We found girls names much easier to come up with than boys. Named our boy Maxwell. It just came to me. I kind of dreamed his first and second name. We like Cassandra for a girl. I guess we like more traditional names that aren't ridiculously popular. I don't really like names that are common surnames.
