Why?

1. We're set to bank a profit of about a million bucks this year according to Hutchy this morning (including a 50% share of the Essendon game in R21) - imagine what we'll make when we're half decent on the pitch?

2. Foley, Edwards, Thursfield, McGuane all look really good. Connors looks a likely type too.

3. Riewoldt and Hughes will surely play every game for the rest of the year and both can catch and kick

4. The draft approaches, which is almost as exciting as the approaching delistings

5. Simmonds looks like he's coming good again

6. The Dow Jones will bounce back hard this week and there's tons of value in Mac Bank (especially), BHP, Rio and Zinifex to snap up at 10am tomorrow!

7. Shane Edwards (again).

8. We have no alternative.

Go Tiges!!

The only profit we'll make is the saving on giving the crowd footballs after a win. :o

dude, you must have thought you were watching the game huh?
LMAO, Simmonds looked like a career dud last night. Foley was completely shut out. Another step for Foley to take now, as the number 1 man who gets the number 1 tagger. ;)

Mate it's all relative when you're last on the ladder isn't it? Simmonds is improving - he's always looked like he's towing a caravan, but his ruckwork has been getting better and better each week. Foley has been tagged before, but he ran into a pretty good one last night.

My post was more a comment on recent games rather than last night, but surely you couldn't assert Foley has NOT been the story of the year at Tigerland

You talk about Simmo like he is newly drafted youngster that is "developing".
And when it comes to Foley, he has been the story of the year. But in recent games, like the last few, the torch has been applied and his effectiveness has been negated. So its another step he needs to take in his climb to the top. ALthough he could do a little better if there were others that also needed the good tag put on them too. ;)

good post uptheguts im sick of reading all this sack the coach rubbish

all the points u made were spot on, except simmo did his ACL i'm pretty sure and will most likely miss the rest of the year so gus graham will come up which is also another positive
and in regards to foley, when we get coggs back hopefully he can capture his form again and those two can share the load

Don't forget Fortescue...

Fair go UTG, he had 11 hitouts - Pattison had 7 (mostly against Everitt), while the Swans had 34 between them and many of them led to our defense being under massive pressure shortly afterwards.

We got massacred in the ruck, dead set massacred.

Simmonds is only a no.1 ruckman when he's at his absolute best, and even then only against most sides. At his career standard, against a side with two top ruckman, he struggles to break even as a 2nd ruck. He's 195cm, so without his athleticism at its best, he's really going to struggle to compete - and maybe more so even when he's at top fitness as he ages further.

Of course, he can make up for it around the ground, but again, only when he's at top fitness. Otherwise, as you said beautifully, he looks like he's towing a caravan. :D

For all the sh*t Knobel cops, we've greatly missed him this season and last.

Ruckman aren't super important, but they need to be able to not be totally dominated as Simmonds was too often last night. Yes, he'll improve, but he may struggle to recapture that very good 2006 form.

Yeah, but at least he makes a contest and we're at least a chance of having our ruckman tap to advantage rather than hoping to shark the opposition, which is the case with Patto.

I still think Simmonds going down was our most significant injury for the year.

That said, Hamish McIntosh would probably be getting a game most weeks if he was on our list, I acknowledge that.

Coburg's form has to give some hope, too. A fair few of Geelong's VFL flag side from a few years are now starring in the seniors and I heard their success early at VFL level quite galvanised the group.

Patto was 90% as competitive as Simmonds last night IMO UTG.

I agree he was probably our most significant injury of the year, but only assuming he carried his 2006 form into this year.

Having said all the above, it does take big blokes much longer to get fit again.

coughlan was our most significant injury this year and last IMO and we saw this on sat night when foley couldnt break his tag...

gus graham has been coming along very well and impriving out of sight and will be a better ruckman than patto, which made me think, where will patto play if not in the ruck? he's very mobile bt i dunno how he would go as a KP forward

You lose all crediblity in a post if you use that slime bag as a source.

He is a footy gossip columnist. His nose is a deep shade of brown.

Even those dumbasses at AW realised he was a liablity.

Hardly salacious gossip. We have record membership, have had a few decent drawing games with the R21 one set to be the biggest windfall, a much higher AFL dividend to look forward to courtesy of the TV rights, an underfunded footy and recruiting dept and we pay about 96% of the salary cap.

So, it makes sense (and $$ - ah geez, I crack myself up:D)
