And I thought I was overreacting to the loss. It's only a game after all, some said. :rolleyes:

The loss no longer occupies my thoughts as much as it did up until 3 days ago. But I'm still pissed off and ****ing angry. A chance to establish greatness was wasted. Scarlett's quote last year "We've let each other down too often, but it's not gonna happen at Geelong anymore" is still ringing in my ears. Some of the players, and dare I say it, even Bomber didn't show enough pain after the loss.

If and when I give up footy, I'll never barrack for any other team. But sometimes I wonder why I put myself through all this pain with Geelong. I'm still haunted by the same feelings I had in '89, '92, '94 and '95.

I know what you mean.

The worst thing is I think it takes the gloss off 2007. Until last week, 2007 was known as the year the drought broke. Now it will never be mentioned without a reference to 2008.
 
When 2008 is over a small part of me will die; the part that can say "we won the flag last year".

Bad.

That's exactly right, 2007 is but a distant memory. A blip on the radar.

The Hawks' rebuilding started 4, 5 years after ours and now they're level pegging with us and with a younger, better list than ours.
