I still think it's a rom-com. Watch it again and see. (still surprised you've seen it lol!)

How's this for some office gossip. We have a girl leaving work today, she's only been here for 3 months max, and we're going out for lunch at the fanciest restaurant in town, all paid for by the boss. This is very strange, usually leavers get biscuits and coffee in the tea room!
Turns out this girl has been having a fling with the boss since she arrived, and she's leaving because she's moving in with him, and doesn't have to work anymore (hes loaded).
He's 48, she's 23. Anyone see a bright future there?
The main thing I took out of this was...biscuits and coffee for a farewell!?!?!?!

How tight is the company you work for??

If that was put on for me when I left when I made my farewell speach I'd simply say "if you look at what you put on for my farewell you'll understand why I'm leaving".

Lol. Maybe a cake from woolies as well, for the long term employees.

They are a tight company-eg-this Christmas we're having dinner and drinks (beer and wine only!) in a restaurant. WE have to pay $80/ head.

Geez, seems a bit quick, but who knows Karen. Glad I've never worked in an office though, could see office gossipy stuff doing my head in pretty quickly.

Someone gave me the Planet Earth set for Christmas. Didn't get around to watching it for months, but it is excellent. :thumbsu:
How long has David Attenborough been making nature shows for?
Seems like he's been doing it my whole life at least.

There's not usually too much office gossip going around here, that's why this has gotten tongues wagging!!

at our place a card and envelope (for money) go around the office and usually a lunch is held.

i just sign my name under the message and normally do not go to the lunch (especially easy in maternity cases).:D

Think he's been making them since the mid-60's, so yep, longer than a young lady such as yourself has been around. :D

Do you put cash in the envelope or just sign?
How do you get out of such lunches? I can never escape them!

You are being stubborn DF! :D Watch it again then tell me it's not a rom-com.
I don't remember the dry humping though, so maybe it's me who's got it wrong o_O

i put cash in if i know them, and signing my name under the pro forma message isnt really signing.

maternity lunches are easy, they are coming back and technically not leaving.:D

for all other ones i just reply tentative and never follow it up.

Oh, so you don't write a message on the card. That's no good, nicer to personalize it!

Are you the kind of guy who doesn't write love letters to his girlfriend either?

my best work came when i wrote "i hope you improve efficiencies" on a card for a person moving departments within our company....there was a time where around 4-5 cards (birthdays, maternity and leaving) were flying around at once and me and another person just started writing our names under the others which progressed to the current sillyness. we recently signed our name under another persons message, this person does not get along with the person leaving.

who writes love letters?

White tails are over rated.

I haven't worked for anyone for a while. It's about to change.
But Xmas parties are a night somewhere (room at the hilton) with partner invited.

And mid year bonuses are 10% of salary min. If you don't get that kaz, move.

That's outrageous. I wouldn't go - that simple. And you can guarantee it will be at a shit local Italian restaurant that some middle manager is on good terms with.

IMO at Christmas parties bosses should be paying for it all. At my last one the boss rocked up with a case of champagne, the real stuff - not "sparkling white wine".

It's 20 now?

I know overseas guys who get 40% bonuses.
Aus is bullshit.

"We're paying you xxx to do the job, you did it, why do you deserve more?"
the high flying days of all day lunches and big bonuses are gone (unless you're still in the millionaires bank).

our company usually pays for booze and food somewhere (previous places have been the aquarium, transit, langham).

About work Christmas do's, I work for a completely stingy government department where cut-backs are rife, but even we get a decent all expenses paid party at Christmas time. I wouldn't be paying my way to spend a night out with work colleagues.

We dream of bonuses, but have never received one.
