He was cracking a joke matey
He also said that the fans dont like him anymore he said that was a joke but it was also laced with a bit of truth.
I think both statements carried some weight he new how to express his feelings even if they got him into trouble.

Agree with the observations FSC im finding that the dents williams has left in me outweighs the advantages i think it was the fact that he was not moved on sooner exacerbates the negatives. Im glad he is gone but i wish him and his family all the best.
Interesting williams put a part of his resignation down to ill health i think even he knew that he overstayed and it is best for everyone to move on.

I dont post much but I read the Port boards most days on big footy.
To be honest I've been pretty disgusted with the tone of a large percentage of our supporter base for a long time for the ridiculous statements being made purely in the heat of the moment with no thought whatsoever.
Not to name names here but honestly, some of the comments made towards Choco over the last month or so, some of you as PAFC supporters, and human beings in general should be downright bloody ashamed of yourselves.
Dont get me wrong, I thought the time was right too, but it doesnt mean you've got to stoop to personal insults towards the bloke.
"dont just sack him, sue him" honestly, I still cant get over this one. I'm sure you've ridden the highs, and I'm sure you'll be the first to stick the knife into the next coach after their first loss. Thats the problem with being a supporter, you dont know what goes on behind closed doors.
Anyway thanks to the supporters that have offered carefully thought out balanced articles over the last few months, its balanced out the social decay that we've witnessed on this site. I'm no prude but far out, if I was choco and I read whats been written here......
Thanks Choc, for our flag, for doing your best, for loving the club, for being an icon and for wearing your heart on your sleeve. Your more Port Adelaide than anyone on this forum and you'll always be a legend in my book

The Board should have been given the arse before Williams, they are the root of this whole debacle

blithely unaware that despite the brilliant contribution your family has made over the decades to our great Club, that perhaps the time had come...

but it is also a bit %^&*ing early for the canonization advocates like PeacefulWarrior to be making their case for sainthood while the wounds are still so raw. Please wait until we're up and running well at, oh, about 5-2 next May under next coach with some visible on field differences then think real hard about your case when starting the first "riding on Choco's shoulders" thread. Not a lawyer, but everyone has an opinion and occasionally some relevant personal experience to draw on...
- non-compete clauses are mostly non-enforceable under Australian employment law, even if you sign them.
I'm also not a lawyer, but I am a law student so I do know a little bit about these situations.
I doubt we would've included a non-compete clause in the event of us sacking him. But IF we did, it would be enforceable. Non-compete clauses are only unenforceable if enforcing them would be effectively forcing the party to the contract to do a positive act (such as coaching Port) as opposed to simply forcing them not to do something. If it's not effectively forcing them to do anything (which it wouldn't be, as Choco won't be coaching Port no matter what happens with other clubs) then they can be enforced. That's my understanding anyway.
but some specific kinds of player data certainly would be.
