There is a rumour circulating that Chris Bond may be offered the managerial/list management role @ Freo if he doesn't get a head coaching gig? Pure spec @ the moment...but I think he would be a very valuable asset.

I think he got absolutely shafted by the club when he was delisted as Captain of the club. Top bloke, top coach....I hope this rumour is true.

There is also a rumour that Glen Jakovich is being chased for an assistants role next year.

I'd be going for Slapovich. He's been pretty insightful on the tele this year, and being Sth Freo assistant would help. It would shut the Worst Australian up about having a phobia Re : Wet Toast.

How about Head Coach?

Harvs hasn't signed yet and the Bombers gig is still up for grabs!

On the coaching note did anyone here Grizzle Guts say that Sumich was offered Connolly's job at Melbourne first but he knocked it back.
F****ng right!:thumbsd:
Keeping pumping the wind up Sumich's a**e WA media.:thumbsd:

Comedy gold my friend.

Maybe compared to Banfield he comes across as insightful. But compared to Banfield my goldfish seems like Einstein reincarnated.

(Btw please don't anybody tell Waters I have a goldfish.)

It would shut the Worst Australian up about having a phobia Re : Wet Toast.

We've had Waterman as an assistant and Glendinning as chairman of selectors and that didn't shut them up. The media crusade is less about Freo and more about the sycophantic journos in this town trying to get their heroes from the early 90's plumb jobs.

The day we start running our club to appease the local media is the day we should rename ourselves the West Coast Eaglets.

If you ever listen to Jacko commentate again (i hope it never happens) all he does is yell players names that are about to get the ball.

I'm surprised Bondy didn't get the Melbourne job, will be a superb senior coach IMO. Would be a great addition to our line up.

Bringing in Bond and Prescott would bring a bit of Fremantle back to Fremantle, which some people have been calling for recently.

Harvey + Prescott + Bond + German + Wallis = :thumbsu:
I'd look to add someone fresh out of the game and ditch the rest of the current assistants.

Aren't we kind of doing that with Longmuir?

I meant as a fully fledged assistant coach. J-Lo won't be coaching our forwards/backs/midfielders and he probably won't have a serious role on match day. He'll also have one eye on making a come back. His coaching role next season seems to be a case of finding a job for a guy who is on $300,000+ and unable to play.

Heard Bond on the radio over here in Melbourne yesterday before the game and although I caught only the end of it I heard the presenter ask him if he'd like to go back to familiar surroundings and Bond said he'd definitely be having a good talk to Harvey before making a decision on where he'd be assistant coach next year!

I did only catch the end though so cannot provide much more insight! Sorry!

And then you'd get the halfwits around town saying that its all Victorian and we need more WA imput!

Having someone recently retired for the sake of having someone recently retired on the assistants panel is a open to conjecture.

Obviously I'm not suggesting they appoint someone just for the sake of it. But I think it would be good to have someone who has played recently. Most of our coaches were part time footballers working a full time job. The game has changed a lot in the last 10 years.

Cam meeting with Bondy tomorrow(20/9) in WA. Bondy has also had a pitch from Lions.

Also reported on TV tonite that O'donnell is off to join Cuddles at Demonland.
Furhermore, wallis is being pursued to join mate harvey at Dockers.

If bondy and wallis signup and with german staying on, that means that malaxos and Broadbridge must be on the move??

Not necessarily.
Out = O'Donnell, Harvey, Spalding*
In = Wallis, Bond, Longmuir*
That leaves the same number of assistant coaches.

* = part time ruck coach.

Steven Icke left during the season - I guess Bond would be up for more or less replacing his role.

Reported in WC Worst today that dockers are targeting Ash prescott for
Developmental role = Malaxos very doubtful

Wallis in as defensive coach= O'donnell doubtful

German is midfield coach then Bond is forward coach or visa versa means
= broadbridge very doubtful.

Longmuir ruck coach(not very convince don this one) = spalding doubtful

What harvey needs to make sure that he doesn't need assistants to support the assistant "less = more" as has been in the Connolly reign each year his entourage was getting bigger but the consistency of performance on the poark was stagnating

Broadbridge is almost certain to be out. He is the hot favourite to fill the vacant Head Coach position with East Fremantle.

If it pans out we have Harvey, Wallis, German, Bond, Prescott and Longmuir then I would be pretty happy with that.

A few have said they are unsure about J-Lo as a Ruck Coach but can we do any worse than the current coach in Earl Spalding?

We could also bring Woewodin into the coaches box on a full-time basis now that he has retired from the WAFL, think he was only doing the home games this year. Has a bit of experience, not as coach but has played alot of footy.

Then why did do we even have him as ruck coach ?

Don't ask me ask Cuddles, shaw etc? I think it's a case a job for the boys because in 2006 earl was the assistant to o'donnell helping out in the forwardline. I think eastaugh was combing ruck coach(dockers) with coaching perth in 2006
