Was delisted by the MFC today, any clubs interested in taking him on as a DFA? He didn't have much impact onfield as his body continuously let him down (plus delivery into the F50 in his first couple of seasons was of 'questionable' quality), but had a positive impact off field as a mentor to developing players and driving a team first culture, and is widely acknowledged as a top bloke. I believe he could have a positive impact at a number of other clubs, possibly Freo (as a back up to Cam McCarthy) or North (though he might be a bit young for them). Thoughts?

I would of said richmond or carlton but they seem to be going the youth route for a change.
Fremantle is ruled out with the way list is structured if they use 3 picks in draft they need to delist at least 1 player.

Brisbane although fagan is a smart guy

Old dawesy might face some SANFL or WAFL footy.

Brisbane and Carlton should be all over this guy. Short term solution to help develop your young forwards. From all reports he is a ripper fella too.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Mick Malthouse seems to be excellent of getting the most out of mediocre FWDs.
Usually after these Kpp fwds left collingwood or Malthouse they ended up being mediocre.

C.Tarrant (failed as a KPF), Anthony (Just terrible), Dawes (Just terrible), Cloke (Struggled under buckley).

is this just an ironic coincidence or was MM just exceptional at getting the best out of these players and in fact there just mediocre.

The lack of high altitude drugs could be a reason why they all flopped after 2010...

Carlton may be going down the youth route but 18 year olds don't necessarily win you games. We need a mature aged player with experience. Dawes can be good at his best but we haven't seen that in a while. But that's what the DFA period is for, to pick up players who need a new club where they can develop and improve. Not sure if Carlton will go for him though. I'm sure he won't just have one club interest.

I wouldn't be that upset if Carlton got him, he's manager has come out and said it's the 1st time in 2-3 years that he is fit and ready for a full pre-season and that he is prepared to play on a minimum contract (only get paid if he plays.)

I'd rather him than Jones and he only costs a spot on the list??

Couldn't hurt to see if he can turn it around...

Pointless you would rather get games into mckay and curnow plus next year it would be beneficial to be around the bottom of ladder again in the longrun

Excluding anthony they kept drafting forwards who cant kick and cloke got old father time calling. Buckley is horrible what he has done to a premiership list one of the youngest is a crime to football

Surely he is a better option than white at the pies.

Him alongside mayne would offer some of the best big man forward pressure in the league.

Interesting point you raise. All dropped off the football cliff since mick departed

Only if they are ready (Curnow should be but not sure if Mckay is ready yet,) if they aren't I'd play him ahead of Jones.

There is still a few teams that he would get a game for
I don't he would get many games anywhere. He dropped to averaging 2.8 marks, 0.7 goals per game as a key forward this year.

Could go into a coaching role somewhere but I think his playing days are over.

Same, Jones is one of those players who comes in to the side, much to my dislike, and doesn't do anything. He may kick a goal but overall isn't great. I don't love Dawes, but I don't hate him either. If he came to the Blues I wouldn't be too bothered. I guess we'll just have to see where he ends up if he ends up anywhere.

That is all fine depending on the player in question some key forwards would be worth it in that role.

Casboult (probably plays FF) pinch hit ruck
Kruezer (rest Forward)
Phillips (played 2nd ruck will rest forward)

Curnow ( half forward needs 10-12 games talent)

McKay ( injured all last season needs games ) Key position

Jack silvani ( looked good in games i have seen lively half forward goal smart ) needs games.

Weitering was thrown forward as a utility swingman last year with good effect. Probably spends some time forward.

Simon white has also played as a defensive key forward at times sounds stupid i know. But played a great defensive job on taylor when they played the cats.

Backups

Daniel Gorringe ( looked o.k in patches good depth player needs to develop forward ) vfl

Liam Jones we all know how this pick is looking bulldogs selected caleb daniel with the pick recieved for jones on a 2 year deal. Bolts cant wait to delist.

Kristian jaksch brought in as defender will need to be tested in other positions to keep his spot on list.

I assume
Matthew wright ( leading goal kicker )
Rhys Palmer ( half forward mid )
Jarrod Pickett very talented off tac cup.
Jed Lamb

Will all play forward

Marchbank
Rowe
Plowman

And i have to assume carlton will take some key position players in the draft also a mature key defender is what i would summarise much more likely as a rookie selection. Chris Dawes to me just seems like a stop and go mess he just doesnt suit your list in my opinion.

They game time needs to be invested in the kids to work out which ones can play. And as you can see with phillips kruezer and casbout in side you can generally only really play one at a time with curnow on a flank.Gws the dogs and sydney likely to be a powerhouse for the next half decade so development is the key right now not winning games. Carlton are on the right track

I trust bolton
