Not ideal but if I were coaching I'd be pulling Watts back into the goal square mote now that he is stronger. Cook should only be a year or so away from being able to play further up the ground.
IF i were coaching i would turn Watts into a defender< he can kick 55mtrs on both feet and hit targets, turn him into a Sam Gilbert.

:eek::eek: Thanks FK you are not anyone of any importance anywhere on this earth :eek::eek:
Well if comes out and boots 23 goals next season then there will question marks about him playing in the forward line, what would you suggest if that happens blowfly.

JTR - I usually find your trolls amusing, but to suggest that we turn Watts into a player resembling Sam Gilbert is laughable.

Watts will be a Nick Riewoldt style CHF within 24 months. Next year we will see some great games, and in 2013 we'll see just how good he can be.

I hope your correct, i thought his last 5 games this year up forward were dissapointing, especially the Port game, when they switched him into defence against them he looked potent.

He might, but I doubt it.

He will be our premier CHF.

And Sam Gilbert?

With Watts' talent we could at least try to make him a Hodge/Goddard type off half back.

To be fair his last four games were playing as a deep forward, a position he hadn't played much at all, and I heard from a bloke who knows him that he was really struggling physically after the WCE game. Which isn't surprising given how hard he has worked this year and mixed with the fact he has only had one pre-season.

Some of his best games were up forward as well, think vs Richmond and Fremantle.

Also he was double teamed vs WCE, played on Bock vs Suns and Rance vs the Tigers.

A bigger, fitter and stronger Watts will have an even more consistent season next year.

I don't want us to send Watts back, but if we did to me it would be to become our CHB not a flanker, Harry Taylor style. I've heard neutral commentators talk about the way Watts plays he may be better suited as a defender, use his speed to run off guys from defence

But with our current KP defender stocks compared to our forwards, I would persist with him forward unless he really stagnates

I don't think he will stagnate either.

Just that if he really struggled up forward we could make him into a playmaker off half back.

It was interesting reading an article on Cloke this morning, Shane Wakelin stated that he thought Cloke would be much more suited to a CHB role when he started off.

Look how that turned out.

I maintain that Watts' best position is as a forward. Give him a year or two and he'll be kicking 4+ goals a game plus collecting 15-20 disposals minimum and a bunch of marks/tackles. Look at Riewoldt/Richo and that's the type of player he'll be. Buddy to a degree also and I'll be stoked if he turns out as good as any of those players.

But yeah, given the strength of our backline atm, those 4 goals a game will prove crucial and also his strength as a marking target. We need some crumbers!
