Unbelievable game from Judd, easily his best yet for the club, as has been said he was probably the only exciting thing to come out of a pretty ordinary game. That handball to Yarran was Hird like, best inside midfielder in the game and as he showed a few times on the weekend he's slowly getting back to being the best outside midfielder in the game. His ability to find players in attacking positions from nowhere is unbelievable.

He's bloody smart too, the onehanded mark on the boundary with Pendlebury was a perfect example, pendlebury did the right thing and got goal or ground side of him to ensure even if he (Judd) did win the contest he wouldnt be able to take off on him as he would've been hemmed in on the line, pretty good defensive move from Pendles and absolutely the correct position for him to take, Juddy was smart enough to realise his position on the ground, initiated the contact and protected the drop of the ball perfectly enough that he could just spin off him and take off after marking the ball one hand, which he did and burst into attack to set up a goal. Thats a very small thing but most players in that position would be happy to take the mark contested and go back content enough that they were able to take the mark out of position. Not Judd! He's a beauty..

Judd the year he won the brownlow only got 30+ possesstions twice in the whole year... i think his a great chance for this year

I dont know about anybody else, but I shit myself when Juddy landed the way he did in the forward 50 yesterday. Im like, no dont do this to us Chris!!

When he took that pack mark in the third,
thought it was Kouta.
Loved his game but if he repeats both those incidents often enough he is going to get seriously hurt! What the hell - HTFU is a good message to send

Thing is though, now that he is going for contested marks,
opposition sides can't just put their stock standard run-with players on him.

Opens up a whole new side of his game.

Judd's a mageniuns.

Probably his best all round game for the club. 4 quarter effort.
But then don't make that sound like he's played only a couple of decent game. On Sunday he was OUTSTANDING, but he's been outstanding a number of times in his 29 games.

  • He knows his groins have pretty much healed. The long, running goals.
  • The mark. Shoulders? Tick.
  • Was it just on 3/4 time when he got so sick and tired of watching our clowns running round in circles in the backline that he tore down, grabbed the ball and hoisted it forward? He was responding to the way the whole crowd was feeling. Kick the ****ing thing towards the goal!
  • Looks happier and more at home now he has fully recovered. He always said it was daunting coming to the club after all that song and dance and then not being able to justify it all by performing at his best.
  • Fev thinks he loves him but Fev loves CJ heaps more than CJ loves Fev.
  • Deliberately pulls fringe players into the game. Seen it with Carlos and I reckon that handball over the top to Yazza was the same deal.
  • We may well have 6 + years more of this sort of performance.
  • That little goose-step he does as he kicks - unique.
  • When he's been dragged down by 3 or 4 players as they try futilely to stop him, it reminds me of a wildebeest surounded by wild dogs.
  • JK is developing well and we would love him now but we can't have our cake etc...
  • For mine the most exciting player at Carlton since Kouta circa 2000

he looks ok but seriously, how well have we done out of this?

His best game for the club on Sunday, and I watched the 1st quarter last night, and he was everywhere. Just the way he has so much composure when he has the ball - that delivery into the forward line in the 1st quarter to Eddie Betts, he didn't even have to break stride to take that mark.

You could also argue that he could have polled Brownlow votes vs Fremantle and Hawthorn also. Given his form, Adelaide will have to really be on their game to be able to hold him.

Judd is in incredible form so let's hope he can continue it, not only for his sake, but also for the clubs.

It will be really interesting to see how he goes this weekend over at AAMI Stadium against the Crows. The Crows are a very structured team with a structured, systematic game plan and Juddy is usually tagged heavily. Last year in our 2 games against them he struggled to have an impact at all, gathering just 15 possessions in each game.

He has improved a lot since last season and will no doubt get tagged hard again. Let's see how much he has improved.

Quality post J.

It's usually Shirley isn't it that gives him the hard tag? I wonder if they will bring him back into the side this week, just to give him the job

EDIT: Just noticed Shirley has been suspended for 2 weeks in the SANFL

"Shirley would have been an option of the Crows this weekend. The midfielder has regularly taken on the challenging role of running with Chris Judd, now playing for Carlton after switching from West Coast at the end of 2007."

Ratten seeing the Judd of old

Carlton coach Brett Ratten says captain Chris Judd is back to his best form after groin surgery interrupted his AFL career 18 months ago.

Judd was impressive in last Sunday's win over Collingwood, which has left the Blues sixth on the ladder.

Adelaide hosts Carlton this Saturday with the Crows having lost their last three matches.

Ratten says last Sunday's match was a significant moment in Judd's career.

"I think that was probably the best game I've seen him play," he said.

"Probably not just from his ball-winning ability, but to jump and catch the ball, he's really worked on his marking through the summer and he really feels he's getting that back to his junior days."

I think Judd is going to take off this season the same way that Kouta did in 2000, he's just been building towards an amazing form streak.

The Collingwood supporters sitting behind me shouting out 'give us a go Juddy' was the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned! :D

I knew i'd become a Chris Judd fan when i realised i was getting a little too carried away with my hot dog during the 3rd quarter...

LMFAO! :thumbsu::D
