Chris Knights

Just after the 2004 Draft some of you might remember me praising our draftees, particularly Chris.

This kid has got it people. During the year I make trips up to Victoria to observe the talent in the TAC Cup. I remember seeing Chris play for Eastern on two consecutive occasions, and he blew me away.

HIs sheer ability to find the ball both in space and in congested situation was brilliant. Both times he also read the ball beautifully off the packs and kicked his inevitable 2-3 goals a game. Plus he had very strong hands on the lead, boosted by his growing frame.

His skills were alright - his quick gives and long kicks were a feature. Also pretty confident on his opposite side (except for his oppo handball). Kicked a fair few floaters but I wasn't too discouraged because everything else was excellent.

This kid should push for our best 22 next year and give the RS a huge shake.

i thought it was the bigman who said it, but obviously not, someone definitely said it anyhow. Did you go over there specifically to watch TAC cup? And how did you rate Maric and meeson in comparison>?

I was thoroughly impressed by both and was very glad to hear on draft day we picked him up.

But to hear we picked up Boogie Knights really topped it off for me.

I did a phantom draft and had Knights at #17 - pretty indicative of what I thought of him.

To be honest everyone who I thought was as good as Knights got through. It just turned out that we got an absolute steal.

I rated a bloke by the name of Beau Dowler VERY highly last year but in turn I was aware he was too young. He'll go quickly this year though.

Last year's draft was suprsingly good. This year's is a bit of a downer but watch out for 2006...

Anyway, one of the catalysts for our snare of Chris proved to be his absence at the Draft Camp. He was deemed NOT GOOD ENOUGH to be given a spot in the camp. Luckily for us we wasn't held in high esteem by the other clubs.

What we must remember is that he was growing, and suffered knee tendonitis as a result. Because of this his performances suffered, but I definitely saw enough. This kid is legit.

Knights has absolutely no chance of playing for the crows this week.. or this year for that matter.

Will play a big role for the eagles in the sanfl though!

BockChoy did give a huge rap for Knights even before the draft. He rated him pretty highly and I remember him being stoked with the selection.

Stiffy i know the aforementioned quite well and you are quite right - he was excited about his performance- but only after I gave him the good oil about Sir Chris.

But the Bock Choy has a good football brain. He is definitely right about Knights.

I am looking into my array of tapes to see who is the next big thing.

When the next draft occurs and the Adelaide picks have been made I will let you know who will have the greatest presence.

I live in Adelaide and saw him 3 times by travel, and was never let down by his performance. How the hell am I a bandwagoner?

Besides, I just did a search on Chris Knights and can't find your name anywhere. I can see me but you're no where in sight.

I was thinking it was his young age.

But then I remembered Ebert winning it a few years back.
