Christmas Decorations

Currently my partner and I are having discussions on when the Christmas decorations should be put up.

In my family it usually goes up on the 23rd December and down the 27th-as decorations arent so much of a big thing but the day itself is massive.

Whereas my partner has it up on the 1st, and usually leaves it till early Jan.

When do you put your Christmas decorations up?

In our good catholic upbringing tradition, decorations went up at Advent (first Sunday in December) and taken down on Epiphany (6th January).

Now being a heathen, whenever.

December 1st is when the tree went up in my family, down on the 30th.

Shouldn't be put up before Dec 1 and lights should not be on after Dec 25th (we go away on 26th so tree/lights normally stay up till we get back).

However this year the missus left wrapped presents out in mid Nov (yes she is organised) and the kids saw them so tree went up mid November this year (much to my disgust)

We have lights for the outside of the house and every year I wonder why as our kids are in bed by 7.30pm and rarely get to see them in action as it doesn't get dark till 8.30-9pm

As a kid? Up on the first Sunday of Advent, down on the Sunday after Epiphany. Means they're on display for about 5-6 weeks, which they kind of need to be to justify the effort.

These days my family are either lapsed or dead, so I don't really do Christmas at all.
