Does anyone have a long journey from home for Christmas Lunch tomorrow. Maybe some of you are having Christmas at home. For me im going to my Grandfather's (Dads side) in Thornbury from Vermont South for Christmas so not a big journey. Then back home with my grandma (Mums side) and folks for dinner. Also interested to hear some stories from over previous years of Christmas.

Only travelling I've got this year is into town for Church (being on a Sunday this year it's effectively a normal service tomorrow), then stop into my aunts for lunch.

Always spend Christmas lunch with Mum's side of the family - always a fantastic time together. This year will be extra special as it's my nephew's first Christmas.

May visit Dad's side of the family (they're my 'out-laws' visit of the day). They did provide me with the best Christmas day memories - one year they sat around comparing criminal records (my immediate family and I are pretty much the only ones on that side of the family without a conviction - hence why I like to keep contact with them to an absolute minimum).

I don't blame you for getting out of Vermont South for the day, that place will be dangerous...:)
For me, we're actually traveling from Mount Martha to Noble Park for Christmas lunch with my family (the reverse of the OP) then up to Bendigo on Boxing Day for Christmas lunch with the inlaws.

My nook of the family is small only mum and us 3 boys l am the oldest.l took over the christmas roast duties,l thought mum had done it long enough plus she is not the best cook.l have not cooked christmas lunch in a few years now the missues and her famliy do all that its kinda good not having to cook.

when l was younger christmas was at my nans and all the family would travel to her house.9 plus sets of familys having dinner in her small house. and heaps of feilders for the cricket match.

For lunch me and my mum are heading off to my grandma's place with the uncle auntie and cousins. Then for dinner me and my mum are heading off to a mate's place for a BBQ.

Going to my grandparents place. Just me, mum, my brother and sister and the grandparents.
A few cousins will most likely drop by though, happens every year.

Mums place for lunch, just our family + aunty and uncle. (2 min drive). Then visiting my nanna in a nursing home (10 min drive), then onto another aunties place for dessert/drinks (another 10 minute drive).

So, no, do not have far at all to travel tomorrow. :thumbsu:

Will be at my dads house in Gawler in the morning then going to my Auntie and Uncles house in Aberfoyle Park (90ish minute drive) with my mum, brother and grandpa for lunch before going to my girlfriends house that night. Last year went from Gawler in the morning to Aldinga for lunch (2 hour drive) then back to Blackwood that night.

We're hosting breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Well, I'm heading over to Ol Man's for Xmas lunch. As always, it promises to be memorable in some unexpected way. One year, the Ol' Man got so drunk he jumped up on the table - not before taking his trousers off - and regaled us with Scarface impersonations.

At least he's consistent.

i'm already over christmas.

petty drama over beer, or lack thereof, due to my brother being a dumbass (and wannabe beer connesueir) and buying horrible hahn white beer for his christmas eve party meaning the old man had to go back home and dig into the reserves for today and leaving us with about 8 beers between 4 blokes for todays lunch...

i actually really think my best christmas was spent in ireland when i left for there in late 2006. got pissed with a mate and watched dvd's of some shite all day long and barely even mentioned christmas.

at least i got a leave pass for my once a year visit to church this morning.

and more beers appear from the garage fridge...

mum; it's a christmas miracle

me (inside my head trying to keep the peace); no, it's called losing your shit without rationally going over things first

Heading over to the mother in law to have lunch with their side, then after that heading back to my mum and dad's to have tea with my side. We all live in the same town to travelling is minimal.

Anyone go out for lunch here? Some people must otherwise places wouldn't open, but it's something i just can't believe in. Personally i'd rather just sandwiches and water at home with the family than givem oney to a company that's forcing waiters/cooks to work on Christmas.

We headed over to the Avoca Hotel on South Road here in Adelaide for lunch today. For my husband and I, our entire families are scattered all over the country; we're the only ones left here in Adelaide, so we had no-one that we could go and spend Christmas with (and we didn't have the finances to go and visit anyone interstate).

Brunch at the Original Pancake Kitchen in town with Dad. Didn't have a lunch of sorts, but drove about 35mins to the girlfriends house for a bit of time with her and her family before heading down to Glenelg for dinner with Mum and her family at a cheap Chinese restaurant. Minimal fuss and a lovely day!
