Yeah I like the idea of Watto at 3 but till Punters out of here, that wont be happening anytime soon.

I hope Punter plays well for a couple more years and hope me goes out in style!

Will still struggle against high quality pace attacks, as he goes too hard early.

Once he gets set though, he is a beautiful batsman. Even in his 329, he looked terrible for the first 40 and then never looked like getting out again until one life in the 180's.

Done well against South Africa and was our highest rungetter in the 2009 Ashes Series.

That's because Watson only averaged 19 in Tests before opening the batting. And that was for quite a number of Tests. Since opening you might find that quite a bit higher. Sometimes averages on face value compared to form aren't worth looking at.

Yes but if he's as good as most think, his triple ton or any runs he could make at #3 would be more valuable for the team, especially considering how often we seemed to be losing 2 or 3 quick wickets.

Remind me where Border and Waugh batted best. Number 5!!! And yes, they were as good as most people thought. You play blokes here they are best suited.

Id like him to, but he can't, and it'd be wasting him to try it again.

Punter, for all of his faults, is a freak - using arguably our second best batsmen OF ALL TIME as the main point of reference for everybody else isn't realistic.
