Geelong plays the Pies 9th of July which I know is a bit of yet, but does anyone know the story with the "Away/Clash" jumper for this year. The last couple jumpers( the Carlton type one and the that had Navy and light Blue Hoops) we have had have been very poor efforts at trying to avoid clashes. They actually made it worse. Eg I remember watching a game against the Kanga's while they were wearing the double blue and it extremely difficult trying to differentiate between the two teams.

If they must change it and its deemed that we must have a hooped jumper then, I think we should either use the traditional strip jumpers with every second thin navy hoop removed or maybe a version of the current jumper with different color hoops to replace the Navy. eg the Silver Blue like in the training jumper. Another alternative although a bit more radical might be to get JetStar to sponsor the Clash Jumper with some good $ and we use their orange to replace our traditional Navy , (I did say it was radical). If it was agreed we could lose the hoops are variation on the Silver Blue Training Jumper with a more modern element to it eg The Cats Eyes used on Merchandise on the SilverBlue or a Navy Cats Claw Slash on the Silver Blue or maybe a placement of smaller GFC emblems all over the jumper..

Look, Id be open to the ideas of my fellow Big Footy boarders but what ever we do I feel we must only use a clash jump in away games and never on Home Games. The situation that Port Adelaide finds itself in must be avoided and if there are clashes on our home game it should not be up to us to avoid it.

I have no problem with away clash jumpers having no connection with our normal guernsey, as long as it's done in the best possible taste! I don't really want my team running out in a uniform that looks like it's the throw-aways from a bucket airline

It's a difficult problem for the club as they cannot, under its current constition, simpy change it like that. It has to go to a vote before the members.

My belief is that it is silly to question the need for an away jumper - every club should be made to have one. Secondly I think Silver or Jet Star orange would be an idea. Maybe the club could get an extra logo on it or something for having the balls to do it.

i think its the responsiblity of the away team to change jumpers. we walk about clubs like collingwood not being willing to wear a clash jumper, why dont they donate $50-100k or something to clubs like geelong and then collingwood can keep their diginity. Lol eddie,

thoughtS? it could be away to gain a bit more cash, if u brought in an extra 50-100k from wearing a clash jumper against Collingwood and then got an extra 100k on extra sponsorship per season presuming a big logo u could be looking at an increased revenue of 200k or or similar profit as off 2000 members

thoughts?

Maybe they could rig up a deal with ford and get one of the bright colors from the barra xr6's as an alternate jumper. Theres no point having navy blue at all on an alternate jumper, you may as well use current jumpers. so having one of the bright colors with and xr6 logo on it or something (colors i speak of are light but bright blue, geen, orange etc) with blacks numbers and then the cats emblem where it is on the current home jumper.

I like the idea, running around in Citric Acid.Phantom hoops ect but I think FORDs have just about commited all they are going to.The had the chance to sponser the the Stadium before Shell. What a perfect fit , Aerial shot from a helicopter , the grass painted blue with the FORD emblem "THE BLUE OVAL" but FORD said NO more. V8 are getting most of the dollars from now on.

I think it would be smart to start to tickle up some other guys like JetStar

The Saints have caved into changing into their alternate strip for their HOME match against the PIES.
As I have said I have no problem with the idea of the alternate strip in principle but the home team should not have to change from their nominated home strip.
I'm also a believer in the traditions of the game and understand that our Hoops are known Aust wide as GFC, whether its the best design or not is not as important as it being OURS.To me the CATS always look much stronger, bigger etc in their Blue shorts and I hated to see them playin the whites as they did a few years ago.
I also understand that the PIES feel the same about their strip. The AFL should show some balls and bring a rule down that all teams must have a home and away strip , with the home team having 65% dark shades( for us our home strip would comply with this with the navy shorts) and away being 65% light shades( white shorts and perhap the narow hoops from the traditional strip). Pies could do the same, Thick blacks for home, thick whites for away and white shorts.Still the Black and White( By the way I reken Port should be able to play in the prison garb at home and use their teal for away)

I think we should refuse to play in a clash jumper until the AFL has some balls and makes a proper rule on this. What a disgrace that St Kilda played in an alternate strip in their own home game!

Stuff Eddie and stuff Collingwood. If their player screws it up and kicks it to us and it costs them the game, let's see them go squeiling to the AFL.

Andrew Demetriou needs to show Eddie who's in charge of this competition and that NO club is above the rules.

Until then, I have no problem with playing the traditional jumper, if it proves the point.

If a rule is brought in, I do like the idea of the orange JetStar jumper. Normally I am a traditionalist but if it makes the club a bit of money, it's ok.
