Haven't done much punting of late, but was watching a few races last Saturday, and trying to work out some of analysis that I do.

I tended to see a bit of a pattern with the horses that had more class, (I rate class on prize money and class of race) in races that were 2000m and over, it seemed to have more relavance than recent form. Even if the horse rated okay in class and recent form it wasn't enough, it had to either kill it in one or the other.

How much emphasis do you put on class and recent form, and what particulars make you lean one way or the other? Any thoughts?

And I mean class as in not the race type but in ability, like Luke Hodge is class.

It means a fair bit, Efficent winning the Melbourne Cup highlights this.
