it's nothing new, it's been a rumour forever (even said by Bret previously)
Rather crass to air publicly as a rumour.
Think less of him as a person tbh.

I'm old enough to remember this happening - I'm sure they showed the ending on Championship Wrestling. Wendi Richter was on her way to being a huge star. The stuff with Cyndi Lauper was dynamite in terms of ratings. And then just like that she was gone. No t-shirts. No LJN action figures. She was still all over the WWF cards you could buy at milk bars at the time - they were about two years out of date.

For some reason I'm nostalgic for this period. Anyway, short film announcing Joey Janela vs Marty Jannetty spring break match in 2017.

Don't know where to put this but just researching recent historical events

AEW Nightmare Factory Tapings in 2020

In March 2020, as the world closed due to COVID, AEW cancelled live tapings and moved production to Daily’s Place outside of Jacksonville Stadium. After taping a double episode on the 18th, the state of Florida issued a stay-at-home order that did not classify professional wrestling as an "essential business". Fearing they would be barred from filming at Daily’s Place, AEW moved its tapings to Norcross, Georgia, specifically to QT Marshall’s gym, the Nightmare Factory. At that time, Georgia had not yet announced a stay-at-home order, allowing the company a brief window to continue operating.

For the Norcross tapings, AEW was limited to a skeleton crew of wrestlers who were primarily located in the Southeast United States to avoid travel through pandemic hot spots. Present were World Champion Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, Brodie Lee, Lance Archer, Britt Baker, and Hikaru Shida. Absent stars included the Young Bucks, "Hangman" Page, Chris Jericho, and MJF. AEW filmed for two days at the Nightmare Factory, beginning with a live episode of Dynamite and Dark matches on April 1st, followed by a day of taping starting at 9 a.m. That day, Georgia announced a stay-at-home order would take effect the following day. The taping turned into a marathon session, concluding just before the final stroke of midnight. Apparently, 30 matches were taped across 26 hours.

Matches from the Norcross tapings included the in-ring debut of Brodie Lee, who had appeared on the March 18 taping at Daily’s Place which was planned to take place in his hometown of Rochester before being cancelled by the pandemic. The tapings saw the appearances of wrestlers who trained with QT, including Anna Jay, Lee Johnson, and Alan Angels. Angels had a match with Omega that went longer than planned.

According to wrestlingdata.com, five episodes of Dynamite were produced using the Norcross footage from April 1st to 29th, while the tapings also provided content for episodes of Dark. Cody Rhodes later stated that these taping essentially "saved" the company, with the marathon production allowing AEW to fulfill its contractual obligations to TNT of providing original content.
