Clint Bizzell

I know everyone raves about Bandy being the best trade for the year, but Bizzell has to come under SERIOUS consideration to jostle at the top with him for the crown this season.

After watching him play yet another great game, this week at CHB and not from a flank or pocket, he is continually showing his silky skills by taking important marks, hitting team mates with precise right and left foot passes, plus also putting in hard second and third efforts.

He has been a sensational pick up for us this year, and has found his niche as a backman who can play tall or short, and who gives plenty of run across half back. He has been consistent all throughout the year, and is a dark horse for AA this year (but I may be too biased! )

I think that is what kept him down at the Cattery, as I believe there was alot of expectation on him - I mean, who wouldn't feel under it when you are touted as the next Gary Ablett? I know I would!

At Melbourne, there is no pressure and he seems to be thouroughly enjoying his new club and possie this year.

You probably are biased cowboy but I agree he's been a great pickup. Much more consistent and valuable than he was at the cats and therefore the definition of a great trade. Was it a straight swap for Grgic? If so a big win for the Dees. Vardy and Ellis have been ok too.

Biz has been a revelation this year (Geelong played him in the forward line? ) He puts his body on the line week in week out and is consistantly in Melbourne's best. Biz provides great drive off half back, and has reinvented himself as an attacking defender.

Cheers Geelong for Biz. Also cheers Freo (we used the pick they gave us for Farmer to get Biz) as Biz is more important to our team than Farmer would have been.

I'm happy to avoid this debate, both clubs got good players, you got a couple of exciting youngsters and a 'not so great' senior player, and we got a decent youngster and Biz, I'm happy, your happy, we're all happy!

Bah, I don't want a debate, just a discussion........seriously.......

You guys have picked up James Kelly who has been great for you, so it is a win for each club. I am sure you will agree that Biz needed a change of scenery, and is now coming along as the star he always promised to be.

But I do question the Bandy part somewhat. Bandy has had a few huge games, but I would have thought Biz would have been a little bit more consistent.

Simmonds is going to go very close to Freo's b&f this year. Honestly would prefer him to Bandy (wait until his confidence drops a bit).

Bizzell has been a huge suprise because I thought the guy was going to disappear with out a trace.

Theres been a lot of win-win trades this year.

Did Bizzell play his junior footy as a defender? If not, brilliant effort by the coaching staff at Melbourne to play him down back where he has been a revelation. He has revived his career so good on the Biz.

He started at Geelong on the backline.Probably played 20 games in defence.

Geelong had a habit of playing players up forward, cos we were in desperate need of a goal kicker.

Bizzell probably wasn't suited up forward, and our midfield didn't exactly pass the ball to him all that well. Things have changed, and its a win-win for both clubs

The only expectation was from Clint. He was the only deluded soul who thought he was the next Ablett.

How else do you explain him asking the club to wear the number 5?

I was pretty certain that Hocking made those comments, but didn't know much else. I didn't realise that he wanted number 5, but he wears a pretty decent number at Melbourne these days (3 - Garry Lyon). I just think a weight has been lifted from his shoulders somewhat and he has really come on again at Melbourne, but he has done it more out of the spotlight than in it.

And anyway, no-one can be the next Ablett. There will never be anyone who can come close.
