Co-Captains

Now that Dean Kemp has retired, does anyone think that Cousins should have another captain appointed along side him or should the WCE just stick to Cousins as sole captain?

Personally, I dont like the idea of these co-captains. The Captaincy is something rewarding for a player at the club and having more than one captain seems to devalue the importance of the title....

I dislike co-captains but I don't believr that Cuz was the right choice six months ago. Jako was the natural choice and leader.
Having said that, Cuz must retain the captaincy on his own now. He has a years experience and is developing nicely into the captains role.
I would suggest that Wirrapunda is dropped as a vc and left to concentrate on his own game. I would go for Gardy as a VC along with Jako

Cuzz should be captain with Gardiner and Wirra as co-captains.

Its time the team leave behind the glory days of the ealry 90's and concentrate on the future. Let these youngsters build their own legacy, let them be their own team.

The oldies, jako, Roo and milli, should only play support roles. They should not have leadership roles nor should they play in key positions anymore. All three know they will not win another premiership, they are only sticking around to help the club out of its position. They should not bekey members of the squad.

Cousins should be sole captain. He still has a year or two to completely grow into it - which should also coincide with the growing of the team. The captaincy certainly doesn't affect his play either.

Jako should not be captain. He doesn't have the right type of respect from the players. fullstop.

Co - Captains is out of the question now. Theres no doubt Cousins will take sole captaincy of the club until he retires or leaves the club. Jako i thought should have originally been appointed captain last year but now it is too late. VC should be Jako, Matera and Wirra.

A mix of old and new in the leadership roles of the club is needed.

Ben Cousins has earnt the right to be the sole captain next year after his stellar season.

Whether Jako is acknowledged with a formal leadership position doesn't matter to me (and I suspect now to him) as he is a leader anyway - through that banner and into 'em.

I hope the new coach helps Wirra to develop his undoubted leadership skills by remaining VC.
