And some more:

There is no mention of what round you are playing on the Games screen. Also I can't see a way of moving to the next round directly from that screen. I have to exit that area and then click on Games again ( edit - I found that I could get to the next round by clicking on Games again but that wasn't an obvious choice ).

I also couldn't see a way of looking at the player and match stats of any previously played games. I know that the data is stored in tblMatchPlayer so it would be nice to click on a previously played game ( either in the Standings or Game screen - or both ) and see the stats for that game.

i just finished a season, and while the end of season stuff was good, it could be improved a lot. both the drafts were limited and both should have kept going until ALL the teams had either passed on a pick, or run out of room on their list. IMO you should be able to pass and still be in the draft, should u wish, but once all teams have passed (even if u use the pick after u pass) the draft should finish. And in the PS Draft, it should continue until all the teams have the right amount of players. Also there should be a lot more room for negotiation of contracts and less of a fluctuation in salary (except for the young players), i didn't mind the negotiations in TAR except there were some unrealistic salary requests for players.

Also with the drafted players, their ability could fluctuate slightly, but not as much as they did when i played and as a general rule the draft should have more depth (players rated higher) and their potential improvement should generally be a LOT higher. Again TAR did this quite well IMO. And while some player ability decreases were reasonable, some of my players dropped WAY too much, Braun went from 84 to 71 and he is only 27 i think.

Also it would be great if u could implement the rookie system and the rookie draft no afl management game has had this and is quite an important feature IMO.

But really the think that make or breaks the game is the post season stuff, the in season stuff is pretty good, but u will need to work on the post season stuff alot. Although it was severely hindered by the lack of trading, i am very interested to see how this goes and hope its realistic.

Its a great game keep up the great work!

A few more ideas below

complain about umpire

save squads from different eras and allow exibition matches, so it allows say essendon 2000 play brisbane 2002 or something like that and if u include all the great teams of all time in the list that would be truely awesome.

option of merging if your club was in debt

in the rosters and lineup column you should be able to see opponent possesions goals marks etc, where u have the contract, stats and ratings column, you should have opposition ratings as a column

Realistic opposition team selection process is (i.e. they make more changes, where as in TAR the computer seems to just pick theyre best 22 at the start of the season and only change when injurys/suspensions occur). make sure that it's not the same players performing every week.

Also I think the total amount of stats IE possesions goals etc was a bit too low, i often had only 1 player get above 20 possesions and as a team only get 150 possessions and 10 goals in a winning team

Player rankings for each game, assistant coach telling you opposition tactics.

In these manager games you have to resign players before trading, then u can't trade them IMO before deciding not to resign them you should be able to offer them for trading.

So IMO this is how the pre-season should look

1) retired players
2) re-signing players out of contract.
3) Trade period - you should also have to renogotiate a contract with any players you have traded for - not just accept their contract from their old club.
4) Final re-signing of out of contract players and Rookie elevation.
5) national draft
6) pre-season draft (also used to fill team rosters. I.e. national draft gives each team 4 picks, but some need 8 or 9 to have 38 on the list).
7) Rookie Draft
8) Pre-Season training (you should have the option of leavin this to your assistant.

There should also be awards

Chosen Automatically
All-Australian (including Coach) and if u win Coach of the year you should get to coach the AA team against Ireland.
Brownlow
Norm Smith
Coleman
Media Awards (possoble multiple ones)
Mark and Goal of the Year
Players MVP
Supporters Player of the Year for each club

Coach choses
Club B&F (given a 54321 each week)
Best Clubman (chosen by coach at the end of the year)

Awards in BOLD should have odds too.
Including odds for each game, premiership, final 8, wooden spoon and wizard cup (which also needs to be implemented).

Should also be crowd and membership numbers affecting salary cap allocation.
Once the tribuneral is introduced you should be able to choose whether to appeal and stuff, and the whole point system should be there and your assistand manager and presidant should advise what you say and do.

This may be stretching it a little bit, but what if you had the option of starting a career mode. Where u start in a league like the TAC or something and try and work your way up to the AFL, the closer to the AFL you get the better your reputation gets and the better coaching jib you get as u retire. If u make VFL, and get cut from there you could move interstate and try out for the WAFL, then play a few season there retire there become an assistant coach where you finished playing then u can apply for coaching jobs all around Australia. Once u get a job, if u coach well your reputation improves and then you can end up coaching AFL. I know this may sound stupid, but it could add another dimention to the game, but this should be included only if this doesn't detract from the quality of the pure managerial game.

This is a good idea but I would have it like Championship Manager where you can start in AFL if you like or you can play in the local leagues. Everyone wants something different in the game for example I would love playing the local leagues and I mightnt necessarily want to go up. You shouldnt be forced to start in the TAC as I would lose a lot of interest in the game. Like in CM you can start in Premier League or you can start in conference it is completely up to you.

ALso a comment for Coaches Box and I apologise if this has been mentioned before. Could you add to each player if they are key position or not? It makes it alot easier when you come to drafts to figure out.

Cant wait for the trade section. I finished my first season as the Cats and lost in the preliminary to Brisbane. I am 3 games in and have lost them all and am sitting on the bottom of the ladder!

I'm not sure about the key position player flag on a player. It isn't curently used for anything in the game engine. All contests are based on height, weight and ratings and not if they are a key position player as I feel this should have not bearing on a contest. Thoughts on why you think this might be important?

Cheers for all the ideas, i have printed them off and we look through them and get back to you. On the player salaries for players this will be improved now we have a full season. I was waiting to impliment form/consistency before changing salary negotiations.
It will also be changed so that the 5 options will be a general idea of what salary they want for that term, and you can increase/decrease the value and the player can then accept/decline your offer.

Hope all are enjoying the game, new update should be in the next fortnight, I'm just testing right now. I had a game result in Carlton kicking 43 goals so I'm trying to track down how that occured.

Is this a problem but:

first year Grand Final: Sydney d Brisbane
Second Year Grand Final:Sydney d Brisbane
Third Year Round 9 Ladder: 1st Sydney 2nd Brisbane

It seems the good teams are staying good and the ******** teams are staying ********.
It is a problem but injuries, reports, form and trades all to be implimented soon. This should add variation to a season.

I think you should do this-

The 22 players for each team overall gets added up and the team with the higher overall wins so tben injuries/retierments/delistings/suspensions all give and take from th overall total and then the top team would change almost every year.

But then that wouldn't be any fun cause you'd know who'd win! We'd want upsets cause the Bombers would be causing a lot of upsets. ;)

Don't usually say this but, no. Keep the ideas coming.

I cant wait for a ratings system to come in because it is easy to take off your forwards if they arent kicking goals and midfielders if they are not getting possessions but what about the backline.

I know I could look at every forward of the other team but I shouldnt have to do that all the time. Please bring in some form of rating maybe like CM where every player is rated 1 to 10. In that game I dont have to sift through stat after stat to figure it out. If there rating is 5 or lower I generally take them off.

Let me know what you guys think! :)

Are these ratings shown in game, or after game?

How about you have challanges like, you've just finished 8th at the end of the H&A season and you have to win the GF, or you are 2 games clear on the bottom with 5 games to go and u have to aviod the spoon. Or you have easily finished top and are in the GF but you best Ruck, Back, Forward and midfielder are out injured/suspended and you have to win.

And lots more like that, and each time you complete a challange you unlock something new like

TAC cup league, SANFL, WAFL, VFL etc.

Ability to play against Ireland

Allow to start your career as a player

And unlock special teams like University and Fitzroy.

and classic games eg - 1999 prelim final etc

there are a lot more options for challanges and rewards, these are just off the top of my head, but i would really enjoy somethink like this.

Sorry mate but I disagree with this as it forces you to do the scenarios to unlock leagues! Mate I want to be able to pick what league I want to play in.
Imagine the uproar if Championship Manager said you have to play Premier League and when you are successful we will add the Championship and so on. It just wouldnt work! People like to have choice.

I do like the idea of having scenarios for people who want that extra challenge though!

You're both going a bit far. Other leagues is a big step! Once he gets the AFL perfected then he could think about other leagues.
And if you did put in other leagues I wouldn't mind if you couldn't play in them I'd just like to see them there so you can track players and such.

Fair comment Ritchie 8! I just like the idea of playing as my local club but I totally agree that other leagues shouldnt be looked at until the game for the AFL is totally finished!
