Look,
i know Pagan is copping it at the moment,
and i am one of his biggest critics,
but i look at the coaching staff,
Liberatore, Elshaugh, Mitchell, occasionally Kernahan and Carey,
and wonder who is the the backline coach at Carlton.
Never had a settled back 6 all year,
with pinch hitters and flooding the norm.

I always reckon there was a huge hole left when
Sexton (who was terribly underrated, but always relied upon)
and SOS (enough said) left, and they have not been replaced.

Can't they get these sort of guys back around the place,
mentoring the defenders as to strategies, defensive skills.

For guys like Livingston, Thornton and co. to be able to learn from these guys, would be far more beneficial longterm, than this current lot, as I would rather hear from someone who has done it personally and understands the position.

silvagni was backline coach a couple of season's ago but after the salary cap drams'a he left (not sure of exact timing i think it was the season after)

I Would get rid of the man who's been Pagon's right hand man for too long and as indicated above try and get a man by the name of Glen Jakovictch on board as an assistant and to look after ourbackline

What annoys me is you get a situation where Fevola is thrown back,
with a kind of 'good luck, try hard' approach, but no real gameplan,
that just just won't cut it against your Gehrigs and Lloyds.

Really if it was a learning curve for Fev,
put him on a Kingsley,
or Quinten Lynch who don't kick swags,
and you can leave him there all day.

Fevs worst trait is that he doesn't bring other players into the game when he is down, i always thought Eddie Betts should sit in his back pocket and crumb, but now it seems we have a half million dollar decoy full forward,
who is such a decoy he ends up at the other end of the ground.

Granted he is injured and if so, don't play him.

pretty certain Elshaugh will not be an assistant coach at Carlton next year.

playing fev on kingsley would give him a false sense of security,

the reason he was put on gherig and lloyd is cause they are 2 of the best,

it was setting fev a challenge against the best and a message that these guys are the best in the business and at the moment they are miles ahead of fev
to get the best out of people you need to challenge them and get them out of their comfort zone.

Well he hasn't got a pass in my book,
for a player with his attitude on that sort of money,
his second efforts either end are woeful.
It is totally pointless throwing him back if he has a groin injury and can't match a player like Lloyd for pace..

What the heck do defenders in the VFL bullants side think when they see that.

While a guy like Whitnall who really has busted his ar$e,
and not complained,
actually improved as a player when set tasks,
and taken them on as a challenge,
yet is always mentioned in trade talks,
annoys the heck out of me.

Honestly,
the sooner this goddam hell of a wasted season is over,
the better.

All this talk on Fev having to learn this and that, and that he is young, etc.
Give us a break.
He has been around long enough to contribute far more than he has.
Some of the bad things he does are not even tolerated at school boy footy.
Yes, he kicked a few, but remember, he was the main go to in the forward line, everyone kicked to him.
Now that has changed, thankfully, by Fisher coming back and Waite playing forward.
Nope, if we can get a very good deal for Fev we should take it.
His attitude will never change and it is that which will stop him being th elite player that for some reason Carlton are paying him as...

Will have 3 new ass coaches and a ruck coach, review of footy dept is that it is understaffed and overworked, ala Mitchell doubling up
