you two have conveniently left out the part I suspected you would from my last post, even though I made it all caps. "AND culture". pretty key part to this. everyone agrees that we were a shambles off field under the previous regime, and after a mountain of work Eade and co have successfully turned this around if Skav's mail is true.

ironically Eade was objectively extremely influential in moulding the culture at the Dogs - who you've used in your example to refute that point lol.

I've never said Rocket is better than Clarkson. I've merely asked for anyone to give some specific examples of how they are different, to which nobody has yet.

outcomes do not always equal ability/activity. it's a multi-faceted, luck driven business this one. until someone can show how they are different, I'll continue to hold my fair, logical, reasonable belief that there may not be much of a difference between these coaches.

This is sensational stuff DWD.
If I'm ever in trouble with the law I don't want a QC to defend me I want you in my corner Mr DWD.

One thing i've noticed with Rocket lately is he's been talking about next year and the future more kinda like he's staying around. I always thought it would never happen if he got sacked but if you think about his age, future job opportunities ect it would make sense. I can't see anyone from the club coming out and saying he did a bad job like with Mckenna. The big thing though is who would be coach. I doubt Ratten would want or need Rocket in that type of role but another untried coach with a Blight esque overseer reminds me of the Mckenna days too much. Who knows though i just hope that if we do go down this path we pick the right one and do it before Collingwood.

Tom brown just throwing darts got all his bases covered. Named Stuart Dew, Dean Solomon, Brad Scott and even said Ken Kinkley was a sneaky chance to replace Rocket

Yeah I've noticed that as well over the past 2 weeks or so

Some conflicting reports from what was reported here earlier today.

Mick Warner senior journalist from the herald sun reported tonight on on the coach that Dean Solomon has knocked back The Giants offer and will be staying at the Suns and John Barker has signed a two year extension with Carlton

Signed a 2 year contract extension, however Carlton stated they wouldn't stand in his way should he go for a senior coaching position elsewhere at the end of the season so still very much in the mix

Still feeling Ratten though

Yep. Carlton will be fine letting him go if it's to coach the Suns.
One of those nice things about footy.

Sorry for the intrusion. But a few weeks ago Brian Waldron was on SEN and was adamant that Eade would be replaced as coach by John Barker. Interestingly, Barker just signed a 2 year extension as an assistant coach at Carlton. Bolton really rates him.

Blake Caracella could be worth some thought. He's been given much of the credit for the way the Tigers have moved the ball this year, both quickly and cleanly. He also had good credentials as an assistant at Geelong.

Anyway good luck going forward. With Mark Evans as CEO I think you're in good hands.

Ratten for me is a good mix..
- Already been a senior coach and was stiff to be axed.
- Gone back to work on his craft at a strong club.
- Ready to make an impact again.
Would be a bit ironic if Ratts did get the job up there seeing it was a loss in a game at Metricon that was the final cut that finished his time as Blues coach.

Disappointing end to a disappointing year
I feel for Rocket
If we had a winning culture and Cups in the cabinet I'd probably understand the frustration but I firmly believe much of what's happened ove the past couple of years has been well and truly out of Rocket's hands and he's done the best with what was availabale
The Board will look like fools if they don't have an A grade Coach signed and ready to go
Having said that you'd imagine this would have been vetted from AFL House

I like Blake - If we can't get a Clarkson or a Roos, he is up there with Stewie Dew with my favourite of the untried guys
