would like to see connors come in for Hyde, collins will get a chance soon enough

agreed....connors has to come in for hyde....
i must say i wasn't too surprised to see us lose, esp getting off to a slow start....news about polak's accident would have been a distraction to the boys no doubt...

still good to see them fight back tho....esp to see collins and connors doing well

GOALS:

Coburg Tigers: Tivendale 4 Collins Raines Caruso Corr Cartledge Graham Oakley-Nicholls

BEST:

Coburg Tigers: Collins Silvester Tivendale Horne Keogh Connors

How far would Collins and Connors be off getting a game at AFL level?

I was there today mate
Connors was good in bursts but looked amazingly unfit
had his hands on his head after every short run and looked like he was really struggling.

Collins for mine was coburgs best, showed poise and foot skills and chased hard all day

Hyde has to be dropped for a kid this week
I missed the reserves game
but in the seniors i didnt see schulz or pettifer?

Schultz was there but some reason was pulled out at the last minute.

Kayne Pettifer was due to play for the Coburg Reserves but refused. No idea why?

I did see him in coaches box in the senior game.

Rance? Disappointed not to see him in the best recently :(
Was ok, showed some dash, but the way the ball was going down into Frankstons forward line it would have been hard to play that well.

Was there and watched the Seniors game, couldn't get there for the Ressies.

Collo was brilliant today, definetly BOG for Coburg at least, got us back into the game and almost single handedly dragged us over the line, was poised and very skillful, should get a game against WCE.

Connors was good today as well, was played mainly as a lead up forward as Pettifer and Schulz were out, played the position quite well, as for kyuss's comments about him being unfit and putting his hands on his hips after each run, that is just something Connors does, he is fit enough now and ran out today very well, will go far better being in a side with KPP's up forward and being played as a flanker or wingman.

Rainesy I thought should have been in the bests today, looks to have regained his fitness, was willing to run and carry and boot it long, needs to be back in the AFL as the VFL isn't a good vehicle for his game type, but I thought he was quite good.

Tivendale getting in the bests was a formality, was alright in burst, although when the game was up for grabs wasn't there enough, his skills were pretty poor too.

JON was shocking today, squibbed a number of contests and had the crowd feral at him, turned it over a fair bit as well.

Thought Cartledge was good today, played up forward when not in the ruck and presented strong, the delivery into the forward line was piss poor but he took the few opportunaties and had a few shots at goal, should have had 2-3 but missed a couple and one didn't make the distance.

Edwards was average, looked slow at times and was burnt off numerous times as well, didn't get a whole lot of the ball either.

If anyone wants to know about anyone else, just ask.

Cos he's an arrogant little peaheart who thinks he's too good for the burger 2s? (he's right, VFL seniors is his level).
But really, he was probably up all night worried about Polly. Same with schulz no doubt.

I was there today aswell.

Collins was very good. Deserves his chance at AFL level this week, he delivered the ball well, run and carried and played 4 qtrs.

Rance did all that he could. He only got beaten once or twice and constantly provided a target when we were coming out of defence, but then pushed back hard to get his man once he wasnt used. First time I have watched a Coburg game and I was really really impressed with the size of Rance. Has a man's body at the Age of 18.

Cartledge, I thought was stiff not to get in the bests. Rucked well and presented all day.

Gus Graham also very good. He is a monster of a man and has added some size to his frame since being drafted. Has very good skills for a big man and we should persist with this bloke. His ruckwork is also better than average.

Conners did some beautiful runs from half back in the first half, selling candy and generally getting around players pretty easily. Went foward and did really well. Jade Rawlings gave him a huge rap at 3 qtr time for his work rate and effort running into the fwd 50.

JON was utter shit. Was arguing with umpires and getting frustrated and giving up all the time. Jade gave him a fairly stern 1on1 talking to at 3 qtr time about this. "Let me worry about these clowns, you just concentrate on the footy" :D. He squibbed a marking contest, he went back and stuck up one hand. Looked really bad and the whole crowd gave it to him for the rest of the day.

Silvester didnt really do anything, dunno how he was in the bests.

Raines was pretty good, linked up well and kicked long inside 50. Wears his shorts up really really high :D

Cogs was there watching, Luke McGuane aswell. Petts was there, he was giving advice to fwds at qtr time and I think spent some time in the box. Terry was there aswell. He son said at the 3 qtr time huddle "we could win this", Terry replied with "My word mate, my word". Frankston kicked 2 goals in a row in the last qtr and he bailed at the 10 minute mark.

Any questions, just ask

Did Casserley Play? If so how did he go?
ANd on todays performance and considering we cannot make the 8, would you play Connors, Collins & Rance.
Connors and Collins will provide added skill.
Considering Polak wont play for the remainder of the year or possible ever & Maguane will still be out, should we give Rance a go and play him for the rest of the year?

Casserly didn't play in the 1s, may have played reserves but I didn't get there in time, all the sticky beaks on the new Eastlink made me miss the last qtr.

I don't know if you could add all three at once. But I do think that all 3 will be given a chance before the year is out.

Against West Coast I would have Out: Polak (tram) In: Rance. Has a great body and will be able to take the less experianced fowards to learn his craft at AFL level. Really exited about seeing him play.

I think that Rance will debut against WC. It will give him an opportunity to grab a flight over to see his family in WA (I assume that they are there). Terry likes doing things like that.

I've been waiting for him to come into the team. With Thursfield back it will be good to see them teaming up for the first time together.

Hope Connors and Collins also play in WA. We are a better team without our captain, and Hyde should be given a long stint in the reserves.

How did big Gus Graham go HBK.
Gus was alright, drifted up forward a number of times and had the sit several times but just couldn't take the grabs, he is one to persist with, has a great size, but just needs to realise how to utilise it.

am a massive fan of Alex Rance and would love to see him in Essendon colors always have, but hope he goes really well when (he should) make his AFL debut in a couple of weeks, looks like a stable backline down their now. Thursdfield, Moore, Rance in, just need some accountable smalls and your set.

Add McGuane who is starting to develop well and Schulz who could be an Adam Hunter type and it is starting to look very nice, just need to hope Polly can make his way back and we will have the deepest backline in the league.

I saw both games. In the ressies,Collard looked the pick of them. Did some smart things, wasn't on all the time. Looked better than the others. Casserly was ok, but you would expect that in the ressies. Would be surprised if he was good enough. Putt was reasonable, doesn't look 203cms. Don't remember him taking a mark. Obviously got a long way to go although he did a couple of good things at ground level. Can't quite agree about Collins being brilliant in the seniors, he looked ok and seemed to play a bit taller than his height. Played well enough though to suggest he will make it. Still looks pretty light. Connors is great and I think he would be better at Richmond, playing with better players. Liked Raines also. Stands out in that grade with his class. Gourdis didn't play, or if he did, not while I was there. The big guys, Silvestor, Graham and Cartledge were reasonable without really impacting on the game. One other poster was right, Gus has gotten bigger but he needs to get better. Might do that in the ones where his height and bulk would be useful. Tried to find something really good about Rance. He was a good average player. I think he would be up against it playing on a Fevola,or Cloke at present but could get experience palying on the third forward. But he's young and there is obviously plenty of potential there and a go in the ones might show him where he needs to be. Seems very competitive which has got to be a good thing.

You couldn't expect him to come in and hold Fev or Cloke straight away. He has played like 10 games of footy this year and he is still 18. I think he will be a very good player for us though. He has a great build and just, "looks" like a footy player. He doesnt run around like an unco (Patto), he doesnt do well one on one, then kick the ball straight to the opposition (McGuane), he doesnt get pushed off the ball like a fly (Tambling).

Hes a really nice guy too. My mate was telling me that him and a few friends were down at punt road having a kick. And Rance was doing some work by himself, he was kicking the footy at the wooden cutout man, trying to sure up his skills. Anyway, it was really windy so the thing kept falling over. He motions to the kids to come over and help him. He just asked them to do some flatout leads and he was kicking it to them. Then they did some to him. These guys are 16, 17 and for him to ask a few random kids to kick the footy with him was a real good thing to do.
