After trailing by over 8 goals in the second quarter we got done by 19 points.

Have not got a lot of time so will keep this brief.

Look for Marsh to get a recall. Even though he would have with staff and otto down, he clearly was the best big man on the ground. Rucked well and got a lot of possessions around the ground.

Zantuck probably kicked as many points as goals which I think was 4 or 5 but I would still have him play another game with coburg. He still bludged a bit and a totally committed game from him could of won us the match – he gave away a 50 by mouthing off at the ump. I was on the fence and heard him call the ump a fing c. (when was the last time someone got done for abusive language – seems to be out of the report book these days).

I think Blumfield will get called up to the seniors he played a very classy game (except for the missed sitter in the second). Picked up stats forward, midfield and back – a very pleasing game.

Pettifer would be his main rival. If we lose against the eagles I think he should be brought in and given say 4 or 5 weeks to show if he can make it – kicked goals and took a speccy – problem was he tried to take a few more when he should have down the team thing.

Dragga got a bit of the ball and can hold his head up.

Dunc and Rogers also got a bit of the ball. Rogers used it better than Dunc (surprise surprise) but both need to do more to get a game with the seniors.

Speaking of Moore – be played ok - but is still in the development league rather than being a realistic chance of a call up (we need an injury for starters).

Tuck was thereabouts but did not do enough.

Rodan also did not do enough (but hey he probably is doing more the Roach is in the ones – go figure)

Gilmour needed the game under his belt – did not do much – first game back from eye injury I think (God he looks skinny)

Morrison played a shocker I mean REALLY bad.

Raines showed glimpses – but really will not get a game this season I would think.

Foley ( the guy I am a wrap for) had a quiet one - bit to quiet for me.

Look for Kuert (coburg listed player ) to feature in the best players.

I hope number 7 is one of our guys - he played well off the half back flank but don’t know who he is .

Strangest thing I saw was Kevin Morris have a verbal balmy with a guy after the game – it went on for a t least 10 minutes – can’t believe an official would get sucked in like that.

Ok that’s it.

Keep the faith.

Yay. He better get a call up. We need him.

Great post peejay. Anyone else who went can you please give us a wrap of what you thought.

A couple of other things.

I know a lot of you will say big deal but well done dave rodan for staying out on the ground for a while signing autographs for fans - in particular the little kids (he probably likes being around people he is taller than). this type of stuff is important at any time.

Also heard the cambo will miss a couple - word is that he came back too soon. - same injury.

Coburg Tigers v Bendigo Bombers
23rd May 2004 at Punt Road
Match Report

The Coburg Tigers have suffered their second loss in as many weeks against arch rivals the Bendigo Bombers in a feature match at Punt Road Oval on Sunday. In near perfect conditions for football, crowds in excess of 3000 saw a disappointing performance by the Coburg Tigers senior side, finally losing by 19 points.

Both Coburg and Richmond fans united to inject some well needed support for the side, but could not get the side over the line. A feature of the day was the sell-out luncheon featuring a discussion panel and footage of the 1974 Windy Hill Brawl. The luncheon celebrated the 30 year anniversary of that infamous game bringing together past players from both teams.

Reserves:

Coburg’s gallant Reserve side once again stamped their authority on the competition with a comprehensive 14-point win over third placed Williamstown. It was a solid four-quarter performance by Coburg with an abundance of players featuring in the sides best.

The side was at near full strength with 5 key players returning from senior commitments.

Despite being down by 1-point at quarter time, the Burgers never looked back kicking 6 goals to 1 in the second term, setting up their second half well.

Leigh McDonald was the side’s best player with plenty of support from the rest of the midfield. The ruck work from big man Warren Carlyle was fantastic, and key forward Alan Faraj was solid kicking 4 goals.

It was a physical encounter with the Burgers playing their best football in the second quarter.

The Burgers are placed 7h on the ladder heading into their clash with Geelong at Coburg City Oval, this Sunday the 30th of May.

Seniors:

Another disappointing first half from the Coburg Tigers was the major influence in their 19-point loss to 8th placed Bendigo Bombers in the feature match of the day. Senior coach David Flood was disappointed with the performance of his Senior team but believed it was a stepping-stone in their assault on the second half of the year.

The loss has left the side placed 7th on the ladder with four wins and three losses.

Coburg’s young brigade was yet again the shining light of the day with youngster Eric Kuret winning plenty of the ball and Travis Jorgenson maintaining good form in defence. Kane Pettifer was the side’s best player with Justin Blumfield and Ty Zantuck providing plenty of support around the ground. Zantuck finished with 5 goals and 21 possessions and Ryan Pagan was back to his best with 16 possessions.

Despite the loss, Coburg will look to build on today’s game in their preparation for Geelong on Sunday.

Our next home game is Sunday May 30th at the Coburg City Oval. The Past Players are having their annual luncheon at the Social Club.

Ben Marsh rucked against very little once Tristan Cartledge did his ankle.

The comment about Pettifer is spot on.

And Dragecevic - well, he's the bloke some people said wouldn't be good enough at the highest level again (yes, Greg Miller wasn't it?). He's doing a pretty good job at the second highest level and he is a real goer, fantastic to watch him play. I hope he gets another shot at AFL.
