At least 6 Richmond players in there. Collard must be pushing for a spot in the Coburg firsts and Pattison has had a game to keep him going. Although suprised not listed in best would have thought he would have been way too good for level.

Collard's trip to the NT with club officials and Bling hasn't done him any harm, must have been the daily runs in the mornings :D

i would really like to see collard in the coburg firsts next week - i believe he can be a player - and one we dearly need.

he doing well would reallymake life interesting for petts and morton.

how did meyer go besides the goal he got? good to see him back

Collard and Morton could be the replacements for browny (onces hes retired) and pettifer (once hes delisted). Collard has the "magic" but not the application. If he gets his attitude right, from the footage i've seen, he could be a great crumbing (and also lead up) forward.

Unfortunately he seems to remind me of byron pickett, both in terms of ability and strength, and behavior.

The fact that six Richmond listed players are playing Coburg two's is a pretty good reason to have our own VFL team.

But i guess there's a lot to be said for playing in a winning team like both Burger teams are doing at the minute.

How about goiving collard a month in the Coburg seniors, I fail to see how playing in this class could help a fella thats been in the system for a couple of years:eek:

must be close to it, and surely RFC must have some sort of clout to get their listed players in, otherwise our own VFL team is the only way to develop our kids and rookies.

I heard whispers that Richmond have a massive say on who is in, and out of the Coburg team. This is one of the reasons Andy Collins left because he didn't have the control that he wanted. By putting Rawlings in there, it would just add extra control for the RFC.

Hopefully Collard gets a call up to the Burgers firsts soon, he has been pretty good in the 2nd's and he deserves a crack IMO

2 reasons why we can't play more Richmond players.

1. VFL rules limit how many can play...Mostly this comes into effect when playing non-affiliated teams, but I think also applies for affiliated teams.

2. It helps the development of our players if Coburg is a good team. Recruiting good players to Coburg is greatly assisted if they think they'll get a game.

Might also be worth noting that for some players, dropping them to the 2's ( OK, 3's ), might be a good thing.

Richmond has a *lot* of say in who plays for Coburg. Having our own team would make little difference.

I'm pretty sure there is no limits against an affiliated side. The second week of the finals onwards the limit is in place though I believe (after AFL Round 22).

having guys playing in the twos at Coburg is ridiculous.

The standard at that level is far lower than that of top local leagues.

What can our players possibly be gaining from playing in a side that would be beaten easily by good local teams.

The AFL should have its own reserves comp that travels with the first team and plays before the ones wherever they go.

Any players left out of that reserve side should then be available for their aligned VFL side or wafl or wherever depending on the team.

This would mean that the lowest standard an AFL listed player should play would be VFL firsts.
If they arent up to that I would suggest they probably arent good enough to be on the list in the first place.

Of course if needed the player can be dropped down to the VFL twos.

Anyone who wants to know why we don't need a Richmond VFL side here you go

I argued the point with Weaver then and I maintain it - the only reason not to have a reserves side of our own is financial. The rest of the arguments are flawed IMO. Weavers arguments of having good top-up players is even less relevant when we have a low injury list, and becomes a liability as we have to play our players in the VFL reserves.

reckon its more about learning a system in a group so they if and when required they dont have to learn the system in the 1s.
Manchester United are experts at this....from 1s down...they all learn the one system, when they are required they are ready to be injected into the 1s that play that system. ;)

yep seconded

weaver also likes to add some sauce to suit his argument, "silvester a better fullback than thursfield NOW" lmfaoooo

VFL reserves is a joke, better off playing in the EFL or NFL, all richmond senior listed players should be getting exposed at VFL level week in week out to fast track them, VFL reserves? may as well go play sunday bush league
