It's all relative I guess.
In terms of my perspective attending a game launch party is sad. It's an example of how silly people get over a mere game. It's achieves nothing other than confirming that gaming is most important aspect your life, which in turn would make you a loser in 99.99% of peoples eyes.
Forums are a convenient way to socialise, generally at work. I can't talk to workmates about games, so I come here. It's hard comparable to attending a game launch.
I wasn't actually comparing posting on a forum to attending a game launch. I was merely trying to convey what you said in the opening line of this post.
It's all relative. You think they're losers for attending a games launch, many people would think you're a loser for playing video games and posting on an internet forum.
Anyway, I don't think it necessarily confirms that gaming is the most important thing in their life. That's like saying that if you attend the football weekly it's the most important thing in your life and if that's the case you're a loser.
I attend the football weekly (well, Melbourne games in Vic) and I post on internet forums and I play video games, but none of those 3 come close to being the most important thing in my life, not even close.
Give Kerrby a break, he went with a few mates to a social gathering that was centred around the launch of a video game, so what? It was 1 night (and a miserable night at that by the sounds) of his life. Does nothing towards proving gaming is his # priority.
