I wonder how the negotiations between Leigh and his prospective new teams are going? Surely he is getting itchy feet, trying to get into a pre-made premiership team. I have the highest respect for his courage and on-files talent, but did he ever #$%@ up by leaving us...and no I would not like him back!!!

Leigh will never play in a final again. He 'could' have been a great captain and been definetly played in competitive finals with us. I won't go so far as to say win 'the big one' but I feel our cycle is ready to commence again.

I swore I never wanted us to make another GF after '95. But I'm getting ready again. I'm ready for the next 6 years!!!!!!

Go CATS.

MrCatMan

PS.....think I got disctrated from my original thought...oh well! :D

I hope you're right about our cycle starting again MrCatMan, it's been way too long between drinks for our club.

As for Leigh Colbert, he is ancient history to Geelong.

He'd be handy...

Spriggs and Mooney was it? I seem to recall somebody else as well... hmmm

Wasn't it also for a draft pick which was used to get Corey Enright??

Probably.

I guess we did okay then.

Hard to Judge. Enright's been good but Spriggs and Mooney probably won't be at the club next year. Colbert has been good at the Kanga's but he has had plenty of injuries. I suppose what we get for Spriggs and Mooney must also be considered but then where do you stop.

Why would Spriggs be leaving when he has another year to go on his current contract??

The resurrect his career? He probably won't play much AFL footy, barring severe poor form and injury to those ahead of him, at Geelong. He may get the chance at another club, and even get a two year deal.

Try Corey Enright, actually.

But hey, sounds better for North with Bray listed.

Yes the deal included Corey Enright but he was taken at the speculative pick number of 47 (an excellent choice as it has turned out!). But the actual deal was Mooney and picks 15(Spriggs),17(Bray) and 47(Enright).

BTW I can totally understand any lingering bitterness towards Colbert, even though there are two sides to every story, but if you're happy with Enright and we're happy with Colbert then it's probably worked out ok.

So basically it's either Spriggs or Bartel that will probably go??

Pretty much agree. We both have reasons to be happy from the deal. Though MCM, you are just being bitter if you seriously believe that we won`t play finals. Even USC stopped talking about our apparant aging list.

Why?

It's not as though North have an outstanding list that had a downer in 2003.

With Burton gone, and Stevens and Archer coming to the end, North need to find adequate replacements before being considered certain finalists.

Pretty rediculous comment, and so was the comment about our poor list. I am extremely excited about the age and talent of our list.

Players like Rawlings, Brown, MOTLOP, WELLS, Jones, J.Clayton, M.Stevens, S.Watt, HARRIS, Hale, PETRIE, are all under 23 [most under 21] and have been playing regular games and are extremely talented footy players.

With leaders like Archer, Stevo, Kingy and Colbert, Simpson... and Stars in Grant, Harvey and SInclair, I think we have a great list.

And look out for MCIntosh, Grima, Urch, Watson and the likes to step up next year too... You will see, a great list. I am very excited about what these guys will produce!!

Now that is ridiculous.

I never said you had a bad list, but to suggest you have a list that makes you certain finalists is ludicrous.

I admire your optimism benno87, but we could say the same things about our young players as well. (King, Ling, Ablett, Corey, Spriggs, Enright, Chapman, Kelly, Scarlett, Steve Johnson, Moloney, etc etc.)

The thing is though, we're talking about the "P" word, potential, but until they actually produce on the field, it doesn't count for very much.

Fair point Scouser, however
North did win 11.5 games this year, with players such as Petrie, Rawlings, Jones, Motlop, Harris & Watt all contributing to many of those wins. They've all shown more than just potential IMO.

Mind you, I think the Cat's midfield is looking good - just need a couple more talls to complete the package.

Already found them.

Actually Burton only played a handful of games, Stevens is ok but we have plenty of midfielders better than him now, and while Archer is still pretty handy, he is not the be all and end all of our team.

Ironically the person who we missed the most through injury was Colbert.

Went down in the Melbourne game, then we lost to St Kilda by a kick, Beat Geelong, nuked by Brisbane, lost to freo by a kick and lost to hawthorn by 2 kicks

Colbert returns

Beat Adelaide in Adelaide
124 pt Training drill against Carlton.

We will most likely be in the finals next year I'd say - I'd certainly be disappointed if we weren't

Oh, you definitely should make it, but you aren't certainties.

And yes, i'd love to have Leigh back.
