Being down in Tassie with no Fox I didn't see or hear the match. Was he injured or wll he be in he reserves this week. How could we be beaten by Geelong? Looked like from the stats that too few did too much. Same as last year. What happened to Corey Jones, leigh Harding etc?

I have finally run out of patience with this bloke.

He has basically done nothing for us for two years and I have yet to see anything to change my mind about this year.

Injuries, great bloke, clubman, whatever means jack. The bloke is payed a fortune to play football.

As yet he has delivered about 5% of what we expected.

Harsh but true.

The worst recruiting decision made by the club ever. (In hindsight)

I have to agree

I have been known as the biggest Leigh fan out there, and have argued over the fact that he will come good with Carlos but he has had it. Keenan Reynolds suddenly looked so good.

Take a look at Scott Welsh, we lost him for Colbert.... Welsh does more in one game than what Colbert has in 2 seasons

Wearn't we having the debate in the last week about Colbert's match fitness? Pagan said in his press conference that Colbert was given 50 minutes last night, next week he'll get about 80, then a full game, and then hopefully he'll get full match fitness.

We have a 4 man interchange bench, and with Pagan, he seldom uses the last 2 players (remember our main complaint from last season on how Harris would be in the seniors, but spend 80 minutes on the bench?) - so he seems to be using the flexibility of the bench to bring Colbert up to scratch in the seniors rather than the MKS.

i hope this is the last year for colby as a player for his sake and ours (and i'm a fan of his)....he's more useful to us as a coach or something like that off the ball than his is on it

[As yet he has delivered about 5% of what we expected.

Haven't seen him do anything to date that would inspire me to include him in the 20. And that means last year also.
Welsh................bugger, we sure stuffed up there didn't we

Scott Welsh wanted to go back to SA anyway, he was out of contract, it was just fortunate it was at the same time Colbert was available.

Yeah I agree, we haven't seen the best of Leigh, but to be fair, I thought he did alright last year, and was starting to show signs of improvement.

He'd want to start showing something this year, otherwise he may be struggling to stay on the list.

Well we either trade him for a reasonable draft pick, ask him to retire and be an assistant coach or something or delist him..

I reckon they are the only options at the end of the year, he is taking up a space on the list, a fair bit of money- and he isn't actually doing much for us.

I have never been in favor of the guy.. and I'm still not..

I don't know why people don't just face reality.

He's knee is F*CKED.
He can't F*CKEN TRAIN.
He can't F*CKEN RUN.

Does anyone honestly think they would have recruited him and given him a big contract if they knew his knee was going to turn out like this?

SH*T HAPPENS.

What's the use crucifying the bloke because of how much money he is supposedly getting. It's not his fault his knee is F*CKED.

Pagan crucified him enough, playing someone extremely underdone with a bung knee at CHF, what was he thinking?

I can't understant why peolpe are so hung up on how big his contract is? Contracts are based on previous performances. No one knows the future. His next contract (if he gets one) will reflect how he performs in this present time.

SO JUST LET IT GO!

As I said I have finally run out of patience.

In the future I don't expect anything in terms of football from him.

Even if his knee is stuffed, even if he can't train and even if he can't run as soon as he steps over that line his performance will be rated accordingly.

If a player such as Makepiece, Clayton, Cochrane, Rawlings got one lick and one handball no one would give a rats whether they were carrying an injury. The would and are canned.

This playing favourites with senior players i.e bring back Blakey, Martyn and Colbert when they are clearly underdone has to stop.

We are not playing for tiddly winks. The future of the club is at the financial cross roads. Paying players, whatever he is on, and getting no onfield performance from them is no longer acceptable.

Disappointing to see everyone stick the boots in after a loss. We all know the history. He wasn't bad last year and given a gradual increase in playing time over the next couple of weeks, I can see him making a contribution.

The most disappointing thing is that Colbert seems permanently underdone, so why is Pagan so loath to drop him to the reserves?

If he's not fit enough to play more than 50 minutes - why play him at all?

While not taking the mob mentality on this issue I don't see how Colbert's guaranteed senior spot is justified....

Blakey misses about 5 games in 10 years with the club, and rarely plays badly.. yet has to come back via a strong performances in the reserves. Colbert has rarely done better than string together two or three games (usually average to ppor ones at that) and is immune from demotion. Go figure!

I don't think people would be anywhere near as upset with his game, had he actually proved via the reserves that he deserved to be there.

Must have something to do with the letter 'C' on this subject

Colbert
Clayton
Stewie. C
Calthorpe(last year)
dare i say the other

None if them pick themselves
bag the
C oaching panel rather than the player

lets look at more pro's rather than C on's

3 or 4 bad games should be the bagging point not 1

Most people know my thoughts on this. I'll argue that he has strung together much worse than 3 or 4 bad games, but i'll try and be fair. He shouldn't have played on Saturday. He was a liability. To echo Darkey's sentiments, which i "ranted" about on Friday, why was he given an automatic golden pass into the senior team when Blakey and Mick were made to go through the ressies (yes i know Mick ended up playing in the seniors)?

Pagan even admitted in his press conference that Colbert was underdone and the plan was always to play him for limited game time and gradually increase it. Is he kidding? Why pick someone who he knws wont play out the game? Its not like Colbert is Robert Harvey or Kouta? He isnt that important and doesnt have that much influence on the game when at 100% fitness let alone whatever % he is at right now!

Make him earn his spot, and then let there be no more excuses!!

Can we understand the difference between sticking the boots in, and making reasonable criticisms of performance?

Most people accept all of the positive things about Leigh Colbert. The one thing that is difficult to accept is that, DUE TO INJURY, he has been unable to deliver on the field so far this season.

I think it is reasonable to suggest that he goes back to the MKs, rediscover form, establish fitness, and then be welcomed back into the seniors making a contribution.

Given that we have been unable to replace McKernan and Carey as key forwards in the short term, I am unsure how the match committee justifies filling those shoes with a player they agree is underdone and unfit.

Surely a competing Petrie, Lange, etc. would be of more value because they can be used for the whole game?

Gee some of you guys obviously won't be happy if he puts together a few good games this season.

Everyone's premumably forgotten games like his absolute demolition job on Kouta last year.

As if it wasn't bad enough to cop the barbs of Geelong fans all night re #2 then I go to a North website and see everyone is turning on him there as well. Amazing.

No I haven't. That's what makes his injury depleted performances more frustrating.
We also had Carey and McKernan playing for us last year. Things change.

I wasn't aware that suggesting he go back to the ressies to regain form and fitness was turning on him. I would think any
barbs should be directed towards the selectors for putting Colbert in this invidious position.
The one thing that I find amazing is that one cannot present reasonable, informed opinion without someone challenging your loyalty or support of the mighty Roos.

(Sorry that in my enthusiasm to post I have not formatted this reply properly. Next time)

Bulldust Choppy the bloke is not paid a fortune to play football.
He is on a base salary and is paid for each game he plays. Last year he returned $30,000 to the club. Nobody is more disappointed with his performance for our club than Colby himself. You will see him retire at the end of this season.
