If you didnt realise- our captain betrayed us (in a different way) recently, I dont see to many roos supporters bagging Carey, do you? Most Roo supporters are standing up for him if opposition supporters say shi* about what happened and say shi* bout him..

We Roos supporters are over what happened with Carey- and we want to get over what happened- and just think about footy..

So you cant come on here and tell us 'People say to us Geelong People;' "Get over it". 'But you can't, not when your captain walks out on you.'

No, no- you cant come on here and say that- coz thats what our captain basically done to us- just in a different way- our captain betrayed our team, and there respect. Colbert betrayed your team, but not alot of the Geelong players had respect for Colbert anyway.

We are all over the Carey incident.. and now basically all thats mentioned of him- is what a champion he was for the club and why dont people (eg. the media) just get over it- and BC (Before Carey) and AD (After Duck) and thats when we are talking about the gameplan etc- and how it has to change..

So dont come on here telling us "You can't get over it when your captain betrays (walks out) on you"

Its happened to the Roos- alot more recently than the geelong thing- and Roo people are over it, whether the media are or not is a different story.

I know the incidents were very different circumstances, but the same kind of rule applies- Carey Betrayed the Roos and Colbert Betrayed Geelong..

Same thing IMO- Different circumstances...

Now if you want to argue the facts I just pointed out- go ahead.


So- as the rest of the AFL world (accept other Geelong fans) are saying "Get OVER IT"

Spot on Shinboners, I'm always amazed at how bitter Geelong supporters are over this issue. I mean it happened ages ago and they're still bitter about it.

Perhaps the issues behind their bitterness are that they can't come to terms with the reasons as to why he left. They don't want to address or even acknowledge the notion that perhaps their club was the problem and the cause of his departure.
Whatever the real reasons were behind Colbert leaving (and I don't know what they were), this must the one thing that must really hurt. Hence the bitterness.

Sure they'll give you some lame a-rse response like "Oh he just wanted more money" or "he just wanted to win a flag" blah, blah blah, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, but do they really know why it is that he left ?

One only has to look at Justin Murphy to see that Geelong is not everyones cup of tea

im sure all he wants to do is get on with game he loves and show us why we picked him up.

if hes been given a senior game he must of impressed previously.

I went to training last night and focused on Colbert more than any other player.

Now training can sometimes distort one's perception of the team as you are seeing a bunch of elite athletes practicing in an environment lacking the glamour or atmosphere of a stadium or whatever, meaning they look even better than what they do at the games. Our session was excellent. Very sharp and competetive and we looked very skillful.

Now i have no problem admitting that Colbert looked really good. Was moving well, if a little slowly, but well nonetheless. Was working very hard in all drills and looked very keen to impress and, even though it was only training, to go some ways towards making up for the obvious lack of match fitness. He was doing the little extra things that some other players werent, like chasing errant kicks; running hard and taking diving marks to miskicks where other players would simply run past and wait for another footy to be introduced.

It was evident that he has been instructed to dish off short whenever possible, as his inability to consistently hit a long target was a concern. And in any one on one work, he always played the defenser's role and almost always punched, which i can live with. He obviously has no problems with playing disciplined.

All in all, was an impressive performance on the track and, contrary to common belief, i really hope he can find some luck and get fit and match hardened and justify his place in the 22.

he had a fair collision with teague in the centre last night that sounded a lot like the sound that you get when two sumo wrestlers hit at the commencement of a sumo bout!! not saying either lad is big but it did sound like two elephants running into each other. teague is fairly solid but i reckon he copped the worst of that one.
thought colbert looked ok last night. i also thought jess sinclair looked pretty good too.
