Lets be serious.Unless we get injuries these 2 players are
not in our best 22.
Bentick is way to slow for afl.
Fisher is slow and doesnt present well like wiggens.
Fishers role is to take a contested mark inside 50 but with Cloke/fev/kruz
down there i cant see fish playing to many games for us this year.

Just ask yourself who would you drop to let these 2 into the side.
Players to come back-Stevo/grigga/carrots and maybe Tex.

Fisher is a bit of a liability in the modern game. While he is a good lead-up mark on the wing he isnt dangerous and doesnt kick enough goals, he offers very little defensive pressure and he constantly lets his opponent run off him and rack up easy possessions. I don't want to get carried away too early but Im not sure if he will be able to hold a spot this year. With Kreuzer, Cloke and Fevola being our primary tall options and a heap of smaller forwards I could only see him getting a run if one of those three get injured.

Bentick on the other hand as never held a regular spot in our side and there are a heap of people in the Bullants who would get a game before him.

Given the way our list is developing, the one thing we really do have now is depth. I wrote in another thread that even though guys like Bentick and Fisher may not be in our best 22 at this stage, they can certainly come in and do a job when they are needed. Even guys like Hartlett and Edwards could come in and do a job.

A really good sign for our football club. :thumbsu:

There is a list of about a dozen or so players that will be competing for maybe 8 spots on our senior list at the end of the year:

Walker
Russell
Bentick
Hadley
Fisher
O'hAilpin
Betts
Hampson
Hartlett
Anderson
Bannister
Wiggins
Edwards

Some of these players are relatively safe, others no so safe. Doesn't include the competition from the rookie list either. But considering that as little as two years ago, many of these players were in our starting 22, its certainly a good sign.

I was just about to post something relatively similar to this.

On a lighter note, it's awesome to see how much depth we have in our team now. I mean, we beat Richmond by 83 points with Fevola kicking two goals and Judd getting 20 or so possession as well as having no Fisher, Stevens, Walker, Carrazzo etc.

Ahh, good times. :thumbsu:

It's such a shame Fishers goal kicking is so woeful, with those set of hands he could really be in the elite category.

Would be so handy as a third tall.

Waitey used to be as inconsistent a kick as Fish. Not any more, he has really straightened himself up whilst Fish has stood still.

We will see fisher and bentick some time this year because of injury and reports. It means players like edwards etc, are even further done the list.

I would ask if Carrazzo is in the same boat. Ball magnet, but disposal is poor. He is no longer a walk up starter that he was last year.

Bad news for these players but it means the team is getting better and getting depth, which is only good news!!!

Only stevo and grigga would be certain inclusions followed by carrots and tex if they both get form in the 2s

Fisher and Bentick maybe a bit of bait for trades later on. I can see some team going for them.:thumbsu:

You're quite the optimist; if they couldn't get games with a middle of the road side like Carlton...

Fisher would need to rediscover some power in his legs for goalkicking. In which case, he'd re-cement his place in our team. If he could still kick he'd be a far more dangerous forward than, say, Cloke. If he can't no club would risk it.

Bentick has been rumored to be trade-bait for Sydney for several years yet he's still in blue. i.e. no compelling offer.

Richmond or Melbourne (retirements) or GC for maybe a 4th or 5th round pick but anything after pick 50 is a bit of a lottery anyway. You'd really only be trading them to free up the mandatory 3 spots on the list once our three round one rookie debutantes are upgraded to the primary list for 2010. So the question really is then are they really in the top 6-7 players in the firing line to be delisted at season's end?

Let's see how the next 21 weeks pan out, shall we? Wiggins surprised a lot of people last year; Fish and AB may do the same.

They have managed to repair the damage done to Waite through Pagan's training regieme, but for some reason, they havent been able to make it stick as yet.

How long does Fish have left on his contract? Because thats how long he has left to correct his problems with his kicking and make an impact to cement a solid spot in the starting 22 players.

Otherwise, he is just going to be a depth player looking at getting delisted at the end of his current contract or used as trade bait.

Clokey knocks over opposition players and creates a precence in the forward line>(ask benny c).
Fisher weighs 20 kgs less and wouldnt hurt a fly(someone like tambling for example)
