Now to the aforementioned album....

Just had a first listen and its the usual fare but an enjoyable listen .Certainly worth a few more rotations by days end

Music is there to be enjoyed and if we can take that out of everything we listen to, we're miles in front.
This thread is being derailed slightly because of peoples preferences.

It;s not about cred, it's about claiming one band is better than another..it annoys me. And for the record I think Coldplay is drab lifeless vanilla music for the masses.

This album is a beautiful beach view from atop a cliff. Serene and gentle with rose tints as the sunsets over the horizon. The waves melodically wash onto the shore so softly as to not disturb he sand while the ocean itself is still enough to reflect the truth of the universe. all the while it is balanced against the jagged rocks which lay beneath the cliff.

what a daring and ambitious album. Balanced so procariously on the edge of perfection and disaster

The Beatles or MJ just because they left a fingerprint in history, it challenged music for a bit at least even if it is radio friendly pop today. I'm not really a fan of either band I respect the music. Coldplay just followed a procession of other bands suited for MMM and Radio 1 like Travis, Athlete etc and make me want to set fire to an orphanage. With hindsight the Stone Roses weren't much chop but the timing of their emergence was just right. If it was 1994 they would have been just another britpop band.

Anyway, I'm not here to troll coldplay fans, if they are what you're in to then that's your choice, all good.

Mylo Xyloto will be a concept album. According to Chris Martin, the album is "based on a love story with a happy ending.", in which two protagonists: Mylo and Xyloto, who are living in an oppressive, dystopian urban environment, meet one another through a gang called "The Lost Boys", and fall in love.

Lyrically, the album is inspired by "old school American graffiti" and "the White Rose Movement." Martin also said that the album was influenced by HBO TV series The Wire.

I thought this was going to be shit, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall didn't really excite me... but it's actually surprisingly good, on my second listen now and enjoying it.
