The majority of the Facebook comments were taken up with people furious at the club for involving itself in these politically correct games.

As with a lot of similar issues, I only wish these sorts of people could channel their passion and emotion towards something that actually matters. Then we'd be getting somewhere.

This does matter though.

A football club is meant to be a place where everyone can come to from all backgrounds, from all religions etc etc under the one common theme - football. All other political and similar issues are not discussed.

Collingwood by taking a pc stand on this and other issues are ruining that and dividing the member base and making people angry at the club for taking away the haven from these issues.

You may not be bothered by this and find it insignificant and that’s absolutely fine. But others are as it tears at what they feel a football club should be.

I would be making the same point if Collingwood came out and supported a political cause I agreed with. I’d criticise them just as hard for the same reason - for playing politics.

Christmas is mentioned several times in the article. It does seem rather unlikely therefore that the club has banned the use of the word!

This topic is really in the "mountain out of a molehill" category, and certainly not "thread worthy", but some people do like to stir up trouble!
