It is now well over six decades since the Magpies last achieved September glory. An astonishing and humbling statistic for the biggest football club in the land.

And with the dream of that elusive 16th premiership in 2023 quickly becoming a delusion, I am starting to feel some genuine sympathy for the long suffering black and white army.

Which is why I am getting in early before the inevitable Grand Final defeat (providing they don't shit the bed in the prelim) to throw my full and unconditional support behind Colin Carter's push to have their 1896 triumph included in their official premiership tally.

The Pies were absolutely magnificent that day. Champions on every line against a powerful Bloods side, with whom they had previously shared the spoils in a round 16 thriller at the South Melbourne Cricket ground!

The fact that this year has been all but wiped from the history books offends me because it is wrong!, and an absolute insult to the Collingwood heroes of that time.

So, let's all get behind Colin's very noble cause of honoring the legends of the past with the respect and dignity which they deserve, and give our long suffering Collingwood brothers and sisters finally something to cheer about this September 👍. download (6).jpeg

Which was the worse result?
Still married and going strong.
The best bit about Collingwood winning was that l got married in London so l never had to experience Collingwood flogs celebrating premiership success until 2010.

Was 1990 6 decades ago? 😬
I hope not because I was born then.

Though I do feel like a 60 year old at the moment. My bones creak like an 18th century seagoing vessel and I have an urge to yell at people younger than me.

Despite not understanding the 1896 part, Op brings up a point. No way Collingwood can win a premiership in September unless St Kilda are involved.
