My favourite mark was Tarrant's against the Brisbane Lions at the TD. One of the best games I've ever seen live, and a 3-point win to the Pies. Anyway, he was held in a bear hug from behind by his Lions opponent, such that he couldn't reach the drop zone with his hands. In a stroke of absolute genius, he managed to put his foot out where the ball was to fall, and kick the ball up to himself and mark. It was both a miracle mark, and a big FU to the umpires who owe Taz about 8.6 billion free kicks for being held over the course of his career. :thumbsu:

Ron McKewons Mark against Sydney. He just too off. Banks got ripped off not winning MOTY in 84.
Are you talking about Coll v Geelong at Vic Park, where Banksy jumped and took a fingertipper over about 4 players while he was horizontal over them all at head height , right in front of the members stand?

I will always remember that grab, best i have ever seen.

No, the Banks mark was at Western Oval in the Gubby Allan kick across goal game.

He went up for a fly and then was pushed sideways and was almost horizontal to the ground and air born when he took it. Tony Shaw is under the pack and I think Rick Kennedy might be in it as well.

I saw that one, great grab too, as for Gubby, not a good decision in the last line, late in the game!!!

I still think the grab against Geelong was the best. In my mind it was, I still remember it clearly. Even tho Geelong beat us that day too.

Banksy, not the smartest bloke to walk the earth, but before his injuries, he could have been anything! very handy off the HB in 1990 too. Always made you look if he was in the area.

Hi guys, having been around for a relatively long time, I think that there are 2 marks that stand out for me since I have been regularly watching Collingwood games since about 1967/68. They are:

1. JOHN GREENING"S mark against Richmond at Victoria Park in Round 12, 1972. It was taken at the Yarra Falls end on the members' side. Absolutely unbelievable mark in that he basically pirouettes as he takes the mark standing on top of a Richmond player's head; I think that it might have been Brian "Whale" Roberts. You will sometimes see it on DVD's/videos covering Colingwood history. By the way we won that game 11.24 to 12.13 in front of 28,288 spectators.

AND,

2. BILLY PICKEN'S mark against Richmond at the MCG in Round 9, 1974. It was his first year at the club and you will see him basically standing on the shoulders of a very young David Cloke and Gareth Andrews amongst others. Outstanding mark. By the way we also won that game 21.17 to 9.20 in front of 66,829 spectators.

WE COULD DO WITH 2 SUCH PLAYERS AT THE CLUB RIGHT NOW BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE TOO MANY PLAYERS WHO CAN REALLY LEAP INTO THE HEAVENS TO TAKE A SCREAMER OR TWO. FINALLY CHRIS TARRANT'S 2001 MARK HAD NOTHING ON EITHER OF THESE 2. BELIEVE ME.

GO PIES!

Picken by a mile. For historical reasons you'd have to say Twiggy Dunnes pack grab to tie the 77 GF was close as well (although as history also tells us the week after smoked complete balls).

Many a specy has been taken and in most circumstances you could class them as uncontested. They rely on a few factors including a ladder to climb and it is one of the most spectular parts of our game without a doubt

For me I class a mark or a specy more on other factors and Tarrants mark rates highly, so does that Banksy's mark... but for mine for sure brilliance and pressure and the historical factor it has to be Twiggys mark... Imagine if the kick had put us one point in front.
