Yep, and what stood out like dogs nuts was - their coasting was still better than how we played all game.the 2nd half is moot really, i mean they really were just coasting after that, result was well and truly determined.
Not good enough, but not really surprising with the teams we've come up against the last few games.
When everyone was jumping up and down pointing at the stats board trying to prove massive improvements. There is my retort, call it the vindication hammer. I said stats were inflated due to who we played and when. It fell on deaf ears around here. Not good enough, but not really surprising with the teams we've come up against the last few games.

This is a silly debate though. Combine the whole year and guess what.... we probably sit where we are on the ladder with all those stats. When everyone was jumping up and down pointing at the stats board trying to prove massive improvements. This time last year we probably sat near last for all of them over the whole period.
There has categorically been improvement. 4 wins suggest that. Eye test says it. Ladder and % says it.
Is that improvement enough/acceptable is the real question. If we don't repeat the weekend I'd say yes. If that happens more for the rest of the year I'd say no.
Yep. I know there wasn't much to bring in via trade/FA in terms of defenders, and clearly we had a crack at Butts, Serong and Budarich, but thinking Corr, Pink and Logue were good enough to roll out again is baffling.
Should have taken a punt on a few from the state leagues than going again with Corr, Scott or Fisher.
With GC, Freo and West coast.. who should all embarrass us again.. those stats will continue to fallThis is a silly debate though. Combine the whole year and guess what.... we probably sit where we are on the ladder with all those stats.

If we cant beat a GWS without their best players, A geelong side missing Blics and others, cant get over an Adelaide team missing a bunch of their bests, on what planet based on evidence will we get close to this side?Saturday was devastating. Unacceptable. But we haven't really been hit hard in the media. A couple of comments but the worst was Kingy who made ridiculous statements such as simpkin hasn't fired a shot (he 100% has, but inconsistently).
The odds this weekend tell alot. We're $2.44 against a team in the top 4.
Conversely, West Coast who we are all currently jealous of for beating an undermanned gws at home, are $8.60 against magpies away.
A weeks a long time in football. We get belted by suns in a similar vein then we can rip the joint apart IMO. But geez imagine we win? Some in here will say it's only suns.
It’s hardly a surprise though. When you see an opponent win a turnover after our mids bomb the ball into our forward line, then watch them run out of their defence with a chain of passes and you see their forward making a lead, if you look at our defenders, half of them are standing alone protecting a zone and Logue will be looking left, right and centre wondering where his opponent got to as if he’s totally bewildered by the fact that the ball is back in our defensive area. He and McDonald will then both make a mad scramble to spoil, both end up flat on the ground and the shot for goal is a layup. That is if Chom hasn’t given away the free or if zurhaar hasn’t intercepted then put the ball onto his opponent’s chest 25 out dead in front (either by hand or by foot).18th and worst in the comp for points against from turnovers is just disgusting.
Exactly this. Went away from playing their rolesHmm, they had the west cost game to work on this. The Brisbane and Geelong fade, the closeness of Sydney and GWS to make it appear to supporters and themselves that they were serious about learning and improving.
Adelaide was just inept north again. Too concerned about worrying about individual efforts, looking as if they were doing something in the shitstorm rather than everyone being team players
I think we'd have been a better chance against Crom if they had Thilthorpe and Tex in the side.If we cant beat a GWS without their best players, A geelong side missing Blics and others, cant get over an Adelaide team missing a bunch of their bests, on what planet based on evidence will we get close to this side?
They should be down as they have played 2 hard games in Darwin and on the road but I just cant see it happening
Sure it was always going to come back to where we really sit when we played the better sides. When everyone was jumping up and down pointing at the stats board trying to prove massive improvements. There is my retort, call it the vindication hammer. I said stats were inflated due to who we played and when. It fell on deaf ears around here.
If we win, that's a big scalp imo. They are in the premiership window, top 6 for offence and defence.Saturday was devastating. Unacceptable. But we haven't really been hit hard in the media. A couple of comments but the worst was Kingy who made ridiculous statements such as simpkin hasn't fired a shot (he 100% has, but inconsistently).

We didn't need to go again with Corr. Sure Pink has improved but I just don't think he's got the athleticism when you compare him to other teams defenders.Pink was one of the best state league defenders in the country a couple of years ago and has improved since then with us.
Yet, an undermanned Collingwood took it up to a red hot Swans on their home deck.If we cant beat a GWS without their best players, A geelong side missing Blics and others, cant get over an Adelaide team missing a bunch of their bests, on what planet based on evidence will we get close to this side?

Hard to argue with any of thatYet, an undermanned Collingwood took it up to a red hot Swans on their home deck.
The talent gap between those two sides couldn't be more stark but it didn't matter.
Us, we have a deadset system issue.
We're aggressive through the corridor often when we should be defending.
I'm convinced if we adopted Collingwood's system of attacking (effectively defending) along the boundaries and holding their shape by only allowing one player to attack disputed balls - we'd be a 4 or 5 goal better side each week off the bat.
Yes. Its FUBAR.we have a deadset system issue.
Or even Corr.We didn't need to go again with Corr. Sure Pink has improved but I just don't think he's got the athleticism when you compare him to other teams defenders.

Sure. We found Bath, so find another. I'd still rather take a shot on an athletic 19 year old like McMenamin from Jets or Elek from Falcons, as raw as they are, they at least have some athleticism and aerial ability.Or even Corr.
My point is there aren't that many top line defenders in the state leagues.
I’m sure we are just 1 week away from Caro and “My soothcers have told me”.They usually focus on one club/coach each week and this week it's been * and Bard.
But we are long due a massive rocket and it's surely coming soon if this form continues.

Mindset when the going gets tough added to that.Us, we have a deadset system issue.
