No, I think Glover left to focus on his burgeoning music career and didn't want to be burdened with television.

Yeah Chase had huge issues with the high brass I believe and some of the cast too. He is known for being extremely difficult to work with. Shame cos he is hilarious.

Glover left to focus on other things I believe.

So now from the original 7 in study group, only 4 will remain with Pierce, Troy and now Shirley gone.

Season 6 is not gonna be great.

I thought Shirley was a supporting supporting character as it was.

I felt most plots where Jeff, Abed, Annie or Britta (much less so) driven.

But agree, Shirley was the weakest character of the study group.

Shirley was definitely the weakest character and her disappearance wont be felt anywhere near as much as Pierces and Troys. Those two were big outs.

Shirley wasn't as prominent but I think she brought a very important dynamic to the group.

The real strength of the show was the diverse characters bouncing off one another. With Pierce, Troy and now Shirley gone, it's just not the same. The likes of Hickey and Duncan are/were great characters but it's just not the same.

Pelton and Chang have never comfortably been part of the group.

It's hard to say because I love the show so much, but the way things are going it almost looks like the show should've just died a dignified death after Season 3.

Hoping i'm wrong and Season 6 is brilliant, but with only 4 of the 7 left it's not looking great.

Sad to lose Shirley, but I can understand her wish to leave. Hickey has been a good replacement for Pierce, and the show has plenty of secondary characters if any plot needs more players. They've always struggled a little to cram all seven major characters into an episode.

I might rewatch the last season, just to remind myself that it wasn't that bad....
