Comparisons with Other Team's Lists

Have you ever gone to another club's site and had a look at their team list? I would recommend it. I just did it with Fremantle.

What am I looking for? I look for when players were drafted and their draft position. I look at the number of games that they have played. I read the short bio on the site. Obviously, I didnt look at Pavlich and Sandilands and other senior players. I looked at players who have hardly got a game or who havent played at all. In Freo's case, I wasnt too impressed with their recent recruiting.

I've done it with other teams. I might spend 5 minutes or a lot longer. It depends on how bored I am. The reason I do it is not that I'm that interested in their team. I'm interested in finding out about the enemy and how they are travelling.

I know it's more fun to work out a best 22 team every week ( I do it at least 4 times a week). But sometimes I like to branch out and look at the outside world and see what's happening out there.

Yeah - Freo are in big strife. Its all about the now with Ross Lyon. Its a really interesting thing to do. Realistically in any given year there's only 4 teams that can win the flag. The others are building to put themselves in that position. Checking out a team list gives you a good idea of where they think they are.
You look at the doggies list and realistically they're 12 months ahead of us. Beveridge gets all teh credit but McCartney did a hellva lot of hard yards.
You look at Essendon's list the management team down there have been doing a blind bambi impersonation. (No eye dear) Calton's ditto.
Hawthorn's brilliant management built around 4 or 5 champions of the highest order. Nth - all about now .
Sydney manage their list to remain competitive.
Geelong have no middle group

well I've looked at other lists in detail in the past but the freo look was this morning so I can remember it so I will comment on it here. The question is whether they aren't giving opportunities to the drafted players - your argument about ross being all about now - or whether the players aren't up to scratch. They have first round draft picks from 2, 3 or 4 years ago that have hardly got a game. People start moaning about kennedy on this board after his slow start but he's streets ahead of some freo first rounders hiding in the wafl....

I haven't looked at Freo's list, 'though Lyon has form in how he recruits and uses a list.
