Do you enter in many comps and if so how do you go about it? I'm not talking about the competitons where you enter your name and that's that, I'm talking about the ones where there's a question that you need to answer in 25 words or less, and the most creative/funny answer wins.

There was a comp I entered a few months ago where you could win a 10 day cruise and the question was "Why do you want to go on this cruise?" :confused::confused: How can you possibly answer that with a funny or creative answer? Has anyone won any competition where you needed to provide an answer, and if so what was it?

Really like to know what people say to win them these holidays, surely there's gotta be some art to it.
 
I won four tickets to the SANFL Grand Final and a bunch of small other mainly insignificant stuff last year. The question was something like 'Why do you like the SANFL'.

Didn't you also enter FP?

I won a random Ben Stiller Night at the Museum package from a rental site once, featuring NightVision googles. The question was "Why do you deserve to win the prize" and all I answered was "Everytime I wake up in the morning I think of Ben Stiller" and bam, free goodness.

I got a nice quality stiller bag which I use to put my empty beer bottles into
 
I enter these comps all the time. I always just go the sympathy angle (ie. am a down-and-out student, no hope of affording this otherwise etc.), but have never won. Not comps of this format anyway.

Have won a couple of other one's over the years. Most notable was probably a 'Hotshots' comp run during Wimbeldon a few years back (tennis' version of Classic Catches). Won $1000.
 
in wa they have a cricket ad for sgio where the guy catches the cricket ball. i was gettin no hours from work and was wondering how to save for bali so i entered only because i was super bored.

won 500 dollars and theres half my spending money :)

I dont really enter comps at all, but i should cause you have to be in it to win it.
 
I enter them all the time and never win. I try the 25 Words or Less ones and try to be humourous but nothing so far. The fact they never publish the winning entry makes me suspicious.........
 
I very rarely enter them, but I recently entered a couple of comps on the Playstation site and won a PS3 video game. Shame I only have a PS2, but gotta win in it to win it.

Once I won a Batman Returns showbag at the video store, by renting a movie (which wasn't Batman related as I recall). Didn't even realise I had been entered in the comp.

I won a Jimmy Neutron pack when i was 9, was actually pretty good. T-shirt, game, book, bag, movie and other junk. Had to write in why in 25 words or less you would like this pack. I said i was a Jehovah's Witness and my parents don't buy me birthday or christmas presents. Worked a treat.

i think they knew it would have been a lie but just in case they gave it to you.

a couple of days back a letter in the mail said i had won 10,000 dollers, but i needed to send it in just to enter the contest..

Where was the cruise to?

I'd try to do a link with my personal history and the cruise. Say if it was fiji i'd write something like "i had a friend at school who was fijian" or that "i did a presentation in year 6" or something like that.
In regards of creativity I think they want you to think about it and actually "want" the holiday. If you can tie something into it then that could be what they're looking for - rather than someone putting "cos i like ships and cruises".
 
I'm the least creative person on earth so I wouldn't even waste my time entering a 25 words or less contest. Most probably go to people with sob stories anyway.

Best thing I ever won was front row seats to the harlem globetrotters when I was 10. That was just a cut the entry form out of the paper and send it in type comp though.

I wonder how well all these new SMS code competitions are audited, nearly everything you buy has a code on it these days. Bit of a con for mine.

I mean the question could be Why do you want to go on a cruise and I could write, Because I wanna spread Aids and still be in with a chance to win. Its illegal for these competitions to be ran with anything but pure chance. Merit cant be involved cos quite simply the competitions would be rigged left right and centre.
 
My wife enters every comp going. We would win a double pass to a movie preview 4 or 5 times a year.

She won a double pass to the Hopman cup tennis over new year and was in the running to win a car. She got through the first round in a comp at the tennis itself and we won a double pass to the final with her in the final 8 people for the car. She did not win but got a bag of goodies and we enjoyed great tennis with tickets that were worth a couple of hundred.

I cannot remember all she has won, but I am talking for not more than the price of a stamp.

I won a double pass to see The Stereophonics a few years back.

My sister recently bought two bottles of wine on the way home from work. She has a rewards card for this particular store. She was automatically entered into a draw with out knowing and was told a few weeks back that she has won an all expenses paid trip to Tuscanny including all meals, transport etc for two people. Worth about $20 000 !

Ya gotta be in it to win it !!!!!!

Are you sure about that?

When I've read the T's & C's it says "entries will be judged and the winner picked as the most creative answer will win the prize"

It also said further down in the paragraph something like "please note that luck plays not part in winning the prize"

Differs from state to state I think. All I know is my current girlfriend won a comp for a long weeend to Broome similar to this by writing Because I want to win it. When she asked why she won they said it was randomly drawn
