What the hell happen to this genera. Its dead.
Now I'm just hanging on to distant memories of old PC games.

Went down to Eb games looking at finding a good adventure computer game- and nothing has changed since about 2 years since I last played a computer game.

Where are all the new computer games gone.

I will just stick to 360 and ps3 then:D

Adventure games specifically? They're mostly download-only on Steam or similar nowadays.

Hell, Double Fine just raised $1.5m in 3 days to make a new one.

That's where it is.

I'm in no way a PC gamer, but even I have about 100 games...

Wait for the start/middle/end of year sales to buy games and you'll get a shitton of bargains. Tend to be a lot cheaper than console games and well every game is cheaper anyway on release...just depends on if your rig can run it.

Adventure games are a pretty niche genre these days, but they are alive and kicking (especially in Germany for some reason, other than the German public have great taste in gaming). That's an online store dedicated to just adventure games alone, for example.

I'd recommend Machinarium and Gemini Rue in particular for recent releases, and maybe even 'To the Moon', though in presentation that game looks more like a jrpg (I actually have a 50% off coupon for GR steam if you or anyone else happens to want it).

As mentioned by others, buying physical copies of games is stone age stuff. Get Steam and browse the games on there. You can also get cheaper legit keys that activate on Steam via other websites like http://www.greenmangaming.com/ ... just be careful of dodgey Russian and Asian websites.

It's still the home of a lot of niche products. Store space means little; it's all about digital distribution these days.

Are you kidding? Computer games are always the pinacle of just how much technology has advanced in regards to games

I can go back further than this and ask what happened to the real adventure genre like the Sierra Quest series (kings, space and police. Will even add The Black Couldren). Not the remake point and click bull dust, the originals where you used your arrow keys to move but had to type what you wanted to do.

Look at troll>troll looks angry
Give troll carrot>you can't do that right now

Ah, the days when you had to actually think about your next move.

Console games are about aiming a crosshair or button mashing. LA noire, glyps in ass creed, riddler puzzles in batman, puzzles in silent hill 1 and heavy rain, just to name a few, have come close to exercising this. But please, I finish console games these days like finishing a beer. No thought process whatsoever.
