Can anyone please explain a bit about what happened in the draft regarding Luke Ball, I thought that he was going to be a Hawthorn player but this obviously isn't the case & the club have gone for Hodge.

I'd be grateful if someone could explain what all the stuff was at the end of the season that made it seem as if it was inevitable that he'd end up at Hawthorn.

Please speak very slowly as I obviously didn't fully understand things the first time around.

Also do ya reckon that this Hodge guy is a better bet than Ball?As I seem to remember at the time that everyone was saying that Ball was the best thing since sliced bread.

Cheers

The club narrowed it down to three players. Luke Hodge, Luke Ball and Chris Judd.

The reason Hawthorn went with Hodge is that he's bigger than Ball. Hodge can play the same position as Ball but he's more powerful and can take a good mark. Hodge is also more versatile. He can play in the forward line and even off half back. Luke Ball is a great ball winner but he's probably only suited to the midfield.

Apparently Luke Hodge would've been a clear choice for the #1 Pick if not for injuries this year. He had a problem with his groin but the club are sure that it won't effect his progress. He will be joining in full training with the team in January.

Hope that helps. ;)
