Congradulations to Kane Tenace!

He has probebly been among the top 2 or 3 Rookies this year and his performance has only been bettered by Jarrad Rivers of Melbourne who would currently be pushing for the AA CHB spot and Paul Beven of Sydney who has been among Sydneys best the past few Weeks! Congrats and keep up the good work!

Kane Tenace from the Geelong Football Club is the National’s AFL Rising Star Round Six nominee.

Tenace debuted for the Cats in Round Two and joined an exclusive player group when he kicked a goal with his first kick in league football.

An exciting addition to the Geelong midfield in 2004, he has played every game since and has averaged over 12 possessions a match. Likened to young Eagles star Chris Judd, Tenace was has exceptional pace and ball handling skills.

In Geelong’s convincing win against the Crows at Skilled Stadium on Sunday, Tenace matched up against James Gallagher and thrilled the home crowd out-sprinting Andrew McLeod out of the centre.

Drafted from the Shepparton Football Club, Tenace played under age football with the Murray Bushrangers and won their best and fairest last year. He represented Vic Country in the 2003 National’s AFL Under 18 Championships and was named an All-Australian. He was Geelong’s first selection (seventh overall) in the 2003 National’s AFL Draft.

He has already been likened to West Coast star Chris Judd and even compared to the original “Geelong flyer’ Bob Davis, and now Kane Tenace is officially an AFL rising star.

Tenace won the round six nomination for the prestigious National's AFL Rising Star award after his 15 possession effort in the Cat’s emphatic 43 point win over the Crows at Skilled Stadium on Sunday.

Blessed with exceptional pace, Tenace even out-sprinted Adelaide superstar Andrew McLeod at one stage of Sunday’s game – much to the delight of the Cats’ home crowd.

It was Tenace’s first appearance at Skilled Stadium and his fifth in total for the Cats, after debuting in round two this season.

The 18-year-old has already averaged over 12 possessions per game this year in his first AFL season – after he was only drafted by the Cats last November, at pick seven.

Drafted from the Shepparton Football Club, Tenace played under age football with the Murray Bushrangers and won their best and fairest last year.
