You generally only have 3 bullets maximum. Might as well try to secure those 3 bullets before you fire.

but when you get a 4th bullet handed to you out of nowhere, you might want to use 1 to make the 3 you had more secure. Instead of using 1 of the 3, to see where you are at.
Especially when that 4th bullet comes with the steak knives of more memberhips, sponsors and more people through the gate, not to mention a certificate of authenticity in it being a real deal bullet. In fact you would have to be totally stupid, not to grasp such an opportunity. ;)

Hard to get a 4th bullet when you don't have any to begin with, and are only just getting your hands on the gun.

at the end of the day dude, and this from someone who was against the Cousins to Richmond thing, purely on the basis of the medical report, clearing him, your argument is totally flawed, when suggesting the inclusion of 1 senior player to the list, is going to in anyway derail our long term plans.
He will not take the place of a youngster is he doesnt warrant it. He will take the place of a youngster if his form warrants it and the youngster's form slips. Competition for spots does have pretty vivid affects on the whole playing group.
The end. ;)

Re: Conners

Again, re-read what I just said gastro toby. Don't confuse coaches with players.

mate i read it

for you to think that our younger players are gonna learn how to train properly of Cogs - well good luck.

cogs will spend the rest of his career in a "modified training program" and will most likely be rested every other session

Hehe I win. My analogies rule supreme over Cogga.

Already spoke about competition for spots and how I don't agree with that line of argument and why.

Coughlan is one of the best trainers at the club, which is all the youngsters need to understand how to get their body right. Ben Cousins won't teach them how to kick a football better. Your modified training program argument, if it exists, doesn't mean he won't be able to instill his own training ethos onto the playing group.

Re: Conners

Beave, do you hope we get refused permission to put Polak on the mature age rookie list or do you hope the AFL allows the request?
I've figured out the answer. I want them to approve it and to get Ben Cousins because the club must obviously need the off-field benefits attributed with his recruitment. I still disagree with it from a list management perspective.

do you completely dismiss what affect his training ethos would have on the list? ;)

I should have known better than to start a thread until this Cousins thing is finalized......but my original point was that Connors played great game R20, but was it a one off?

Or, compared to some of the other 'on notice' players for 2009 (JON, Clever, Schulz, Polo, King) is he, of those, or can people see him as more likely to, retain his spot for 2010 by lifting to the next level, or have we seen his best?

(meaning regardless and mutually exclusive of Cousins being there taking his spot or mentoring him to some undiscovered new skill level:rolleyes:!)
