Is there any way to change your 'switch player' from semi-assisted to manual in controller settings for online matches?

Currently, no.

After the patch, yes.

Before you ask, we aren't sure when the patch will be out. It's well overdue however, and has already been sent off to MS and Sony - It's in their hands now.
