Copes kills Titans

What a magnificent win by the mighty Melbourne Tigers.

Despite having virtually no Gaze, virtually no Jeffries and no Taylor winning was a magnificent effort. At 3/4 time the Titans lead by 7 and had not lost this year when up at 3/4 time. Then Copes stepped in and single handedly got us home. He is close to, if not the best scorer in the league.
Not surprisingly in the last few minutes D-Mac and then Crosswell missed free throws as the Titans playoff butterflies kicked in. On the other hand even Warrick Giddey had no probs nailing his pressure free throws.

I can't wait to beat them again on Sunday

What a gutsy effort by the Tigers, the heart of champions were on display tonight. They were gone, dead and buried. 11 down in the 3rd, Gaze hobbling badly and a liability on court when playing, the aging team exhausted, but they rose again, in spirit with the theme of Easter. Now I'm not suggesting Copes is the son of God but bloody hell, he's as close as they come in the NBL.

In a Jordanesque performance, Copeland simply took over, hitting unbelieveable shot after unbeleiveable shot, culminating in an amazing 4-point play, while the Goorj tore what was left of his hair out. Sensational. I'm a Sixers fan but forget Farley, Copes is THE MAN.

Timmons' one legged leaner to put them 4 points up was also huge as was Giddey's (I didn't know he was still playing ;) ) 2 free throws.

All of a sudden the Titans might just be a little less assure of themselves, while the Wildcats may be a bit nervous as well.

What a performance. Casey said it could be the best individual game by a Tiger in the playoffs ever. He was unbelievable. First half he wasn't shooting great and worked hard to get his points, but in the second half he did not know how to miss

When Copes is hot he is completely unstoppable. Bradtke also played his usual great game. Whenever we play ther Titans people say it will be hard for him because of the Titans talls, but he never has any problem with them. Timmons was very good, hitting a great clutch shot and Stephen Hoare and Daniel Egan also played well

I reckon the Tiggers have a good show of beating the Titans in game 3. Copeland will have to have another great game, but he usually steps up when he's needed

Go the Tiggers :)

I'm not surprised you enjoyed the match Ant. ;)

Congratulations to the Tigers, you can never count them out. I was very disappointed with how we played tonight yet we led by nearly 10 points in the last quarter and in the end were beaten by an unbelievable individual performance.

When you play the Tigers, you know the bulk of the scoring is going to come from Copeland, Bradtke, Timmons and Gaze. With Gaze out of the equation, Copeland came to the party in a big, big way.

I don't think I'm going out in a limb by saying the Titans have far greater depth. The plan was to continue to rotate the bench to hopefully tire out a Tigers side who make far less substitutions. It didn't work tonight but the experience young players like Sheridan and Crosswell get by playing down the stretch will be invaluable.

I'm confident we can win on Sunday and avoid losing the home court advantage for the next round of playoffs.

I'm also pissed off that I have to spend MORE money on tickets. If we make the Grand Final series it could prove to be a very expensive exercise. ;)

'IF'?? Since when was it 'IF' the Titans make the GF series, sainter?? I thought it was a matter of 'WHEN' they take the title? :p

Surely one loss couldn't have dented such a fragile psyche? ;) I hope your team is made of sterner stuff :)

And yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. With the Sixers winning last night I went into the match as a Tigers fan, and wasn't disappointed. What a game though! Was certainly great viewing for all neutral spectators and even myself :)

Some of us don't want to come across as too over confident Ant. I've never been one to count my chickens before they're hatched.

However if you want me to be brutally honest, after winning on Sunday the Titans will go on to win the 2001/02 NBL Championship. :p :D

The Sixers aren't safe yet either. I hope you do get over the top of the Hawks, I'd very much like to play (and beat) Adelaide once again.

You've said it numerous times sainter on this board, we all know the Titans have given the league their players' ring finger sizes already. :p

This I am very much aware of.... as my name suggests, I'm not the type to make outlandish statements, however, we are in the box seat, and a Titans' loss might just see Perth knocked out, or at the very least the Hawks, which I wouldn't mind a bit.

Beat us once again?? This is the playoffs sainter, if I recall our last playoff meeting and a few before it, you haven't done much beating of us come the business end of the season (just the once in 2000) :D

But anyway, Adelaide looks forward to the challenge, should it arise :)

Sorry Ant, I've made it clear that I'm very confident of the Titans chances this season but much of that has been in reference to people like yourself continually mentioning our record in the playoffs. I've been reading this boards for a while without contributing but since noticing BUBBA hasn't been around as much I thought I'd step in. If I've given the impression that we are dead certainties to win the title I can say now that I don't think that is the case. (Nor would I have felt the same if we had won tonight)

Sure, if we were to lose and it meant Perth being eliminated I wouldn't lose any sleep over that. :) (Plus losing the home court advantage will save me having to pay to watch so many games as well)

You can only beat the opposition you play on the day and we have a winning record over Adelaide this season. Having said that I don't think that nor our last playoff meeting has any relevance to what will happen should our teams meet again.

But anyway, Adelaide looks forward to the challenge, should it arise :)

The feeling is mutual. :)

Sensational performance by Copeland and the Tigers. I was going "crazy" on my couch during that last quarter. Great stuff.

I hope we can repeat the performance on Sunday. C'mon Tigers!

Lost your cocky tone now, Sainter. How about $10 bucks the Tiggers come home in game 3? :)

Let's go Tigers, let's go!

The Hitman

I hate the Tigers, they've been pulling shots out of their arse for 15 years, and that didnt' change last night. How many times can Copeland (does anyone else think he looks like a struck match?) ram home a 3 over 4 defenders. He had bloody better not do it on Sunday, or there'll be some heads to bust!

This was a do or die game for the Tigers, and of course they came out the better side holding a 12 point lead at quater time. Then it was the Titans turn to take over, but a lake finishing Tigers, went on a 9-0 to finish the half holding a 7 point half time lead. The Titans again in the third term proved to have won the match out-scoring the Tigers by 14 points holding a comfortable 7 point 3/4 time lead. Mind you since this game the Titans hadn't lost a game at 3/4 time being 7 points or more up this season.
But Lanard and Timmons went on a rampage, and won 105-103!
Bring on game 3 :)
Carn Titans

the loss couldnt have happened to a bigger bunch of pricks, what adelaide fan would want the titans to win any game , let alone this series !

ps - dickels a toss

I think the win over the Titans proved a lot of critics wrong.

No one ever doubts the Tigers ability but our workload and ability to come back is often questioned. But that win was one of the most gutsy wins you will see and will hopefully shut up some of the people who question the tigers courage.

In recent weeks the Tigers have been outstanding considering what we have been missing (Gaze, Jeffries, Taylor, Bradtke playing hurt)

The only way you will prove the critics wrong is if you beat them again.

The sun even shines on a dogs arse.

You'll get your props IF you can do it again, you will get all the respect you crave and deserve.

Do we really want to know what you do when you think of Simon Eastaugh, Essendon, Glenelg or that Adelaide basketball journo?

He said we proved the critics who question our ability to come back and be mentally tough wrong which, win lose or draw tommorow we already have. It was the 4th time this season we've come back from 7 points or more at three quarter time.

If I remember correctly from what Case said I don't think anybody else has once

And I suppose that with reguards to the Titans, the suns shined out our arse 3 times this year :)

I believe that was the best solo performance since gaze in the final against perth. Copeland was huge, was there n e thing he couldn't do. 4 point play was definetly the top play of the season. And how big was Timmons two in the dying seconds and Wazza Warrick Giddy u r a legend nockin down those free throws. Lets hope they repeat the dose this afta noon ill b watching
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!
DOWN BY 13 at one stage.
We R on our way two a championship.:D
