Has anyone seen Benet play this year?

Just wondering what he's like? Style of player etc.

Doesn't bob up in the best for EP much. which is a worry. I recall a few good judges expecting him to go top 30 in last years draft, so I thought we may have got a bargain- perhaps not?

Playing EP reservers. Hasnt played a senior game as yet. The problem with Benet is that he looks like he doesnt give a ******. And he is really really skinny.

Bargains exist when not everyone knows the whole story about a kid. Every recruiter knew alot about Copping, he had been around the traps for quite a while. He was highly regarded predraft (by less knowledgable u18 trackwatchers), there were reasons why he slipped in the eyes of recruiters.

He spent a long time on the injured list, and had no pre-season at all... perhaps he's building up to full match fitness??
The Pink Lady is correct though, he is very, very skinny. But he is also just 18 and 193cm, so there is time to put some meat on those bones.
Tell us, Mdme Apple, you seem to have some inside info that the team of recruiters at Freo were not able to unearth (how very clever of you) - how about you share a few more bites and tell us how / why it was a mistake to pick Copping.
Also, it must be noted that Justin Longmuir and Travis Johnstone (as examples) often don't look like they "don't give a ********" but both are very, very good footballers. Now as high draft picks who have been in the system for years now you would expect that they would be good players, but my point is that all is not always as it seems on the surface. I have no idea whether young Benet has it in him or not, but stats will tell you that lots do not compared with those that do. Good luck to the young fella, if he puts some meat on those bones and stays uninjured, he might even surprise experts such as yourself Ms Apple.

He's no chance of becoming a KPP is he? At 70 odd kilos he would have to put on 20 kilos or so. So is he mobile or agile enough to play on a flank or wing?

Great another Woods/Koops any number of other players on freo's list with all the potential in the world but lacking the enthusiasm.

It wasnt a mistake to pick him. That late in a weak draft you are always going to get someone deemed less than perfect in some way. Your recruiting staff would have known Benet's weaknesses. The biggest problem is his weight, needs to add the best part of 30kgs.

Fair call. You saw your way through my jibes to give a straight answer. Kudos.

Still way too early too tell. Scotty Thornton was taken at 66 and was on the list for four years before getting a regular gig.

But even in Scottys first year with us he was at least in the best for the Souths resies, and played a few good games in the firsts.

Does Benet have the pace of Thornton?

One only has to look at how the slime handled Grehrig back in 1994. he came here as askinny kid and played for Perth all of 1994 and then burst onto the scene in 1995.Rest is history

Also the slime have handled Hansem well played for swans in 2003 and got a little sniff in 2004 hasn't looked back.

If BC has it then he should be given the time to develop and fillout.

I am quite impressed with Benet. Saw him play against Claremont earlier in the season. He has good skills for a tall, and kicks long. Has pace, and wasnt afraid to go in the packs despite his size. He looked a classy mover. It might be better to move him to East Fremantle where he would get a better run. But yeah, he definitly has a lot to offer.

What's it with this Melburnian 'slime' crap ar se wipe? Show some manners and respect you uneducated cretin.

And if you are going to be a smart - ar se - at least be original.

Peace and loving feelings to all our Freo brothers and sisters in this time of despair and darkness.

From the limited amount I've seen Copping playing ressies he's a classy mover with good pace and co-ordination for a taller guy. He's been playing a lot forward for a very weak East Perth outfit. Definite project player over 3-4 years.
